I thought that wasn't supposed to happen to vapers. I think this is my first cold in 3+ years.

Frustrated

Ugh!!! I got a bad head cold a week ago and had to stop vaping because it made me cough like crazy. I decided to try again day before yesterday and now I can't taste my juice at all and it still makes me bout want to gag! I've lowered my watts on my istick 30 to 12.5 I was using 15 so I won't cough, but it's like I have vapers tongue or something and I know that can't be!! Anyone had this to happen?

Cold Sensation

Does anyone ever get a cold sensation when they inhale normal air?

Five Years Smoke-free!

This past week marks 5 years since I smoked a cigarette. It honestly doesn't seem that long, it seems like yesterday I was huddled out in the cold at work with the smokers. I had been a smoker for 28 years.

Unlike many I see posting here, I cannot say vaping helped me quit. I quit cold turkey, and never tried an ecig until about a year after I quit smoking. At that point I was still doing well as a non-smoker, I didn't physically crave smoking, but I missed the 28 year habit of lighting up, having something to fiddle with, and just the relaxing feeling of the inhale/exhale. I had been eating a lot more to make up for the void, and having been underweight all my life I started packing on pounds (too many!). I sorely needed a non-food substitute for the comfort I was missing, but wasn't about to go back to smoking.

I tried a junky convenience store ecig after that first year, and thought "if this was what they were like than forget it". I continued on not smoking, but still missing the habit. About two years after that I began seeing the new advanced products coming out, and did a lot of research. I bought my first starter kit in 2013, and slowly advanced up to bigger and better gear.

People ask why would start vaping after I had already kicked the cigarette habit, and I say, "Why not?". Other than nicotine I'm not getting any of the negative things I got with cigarettes. And in my opinion, there's really nothing wrong with a little nicotine. Nicotine is not what was killing me, it was the smoke that was delivering the nicotine that was killing me.

So I'm 5 years smoke free, I no longer hack in the mornings, my chest never hurts and my clothes, car and hair don't stink anymore.
I have no intentions on giving up vaping, as it has no negative impact on my life, and i enjoy it, so why stop?

I have since gotten my son, my step-son, and his wife to all trade vaping for smoking, so bonus points for saving all their lives too!

Two Months Today.

It's been two months today since I stubbed out my last analogue cigarette and totally switched to vaping. You can say I quit cold turkey. I have had a couple of puffs here and there to see whether I really was missing something and convinced myself I absolutely did not. Today I can't understand how I spent 45 years of my life consuming such horrible, stinky stuff.

Have I saved money? No, not at all. It will be a year at least before I get into the black, and that is if I stop buying anything, which is very unlikely. It's become a hobby now and I'm enjoying myself thoroughly.

Has my life improved? Immensely! I had reached a point where the least little head cold turned into bronchitis almost instantly. I had four bouts of bronchitis this last autumn and winter. Since I switched to vaping I did catch another cold but it stayed that way - just a light head cold. For the past couple of years I needed to take an anti-tussive at bedtime because that dry, irritating, smokers cough would not let me sleep at night. No more now... I'm free. But there have been other improvements I never even imagined. I suffer considerably form arthritis. For the past 20 years at least I have had to take painkillers in the morning to ease the stiffness and be able to function... probably because I slept so poorly and tossed and turned all night. No more. I now sleep well, wake up refreshed and almost totally pain free. Apart from the side effects of medication I'm saving money there too even though I am not taking it into account.

And I have learned so much... physics and chemistry - ohms law and coils, resistance and watts and volts and amps, batteries and safety. And proper lab procedure in my DIY juice experiments.

And of course coming to this forum and meeting such a host of lovely, generous and knowledgeable people, to say nothing of the wit and humour.

It's been an epiphany and such a joy! I smile a lot more now.

Getting Testet For Cotinine (nicotine)

Hi

First time here, I have been vaping for 8 months only at nights around 1ml of 18mg eliquid for about 4 hours. I use a 2 ohm clearomizer and use 3,7 voltage

I stopped for 11 days cold turkey , no vaping at all for 11 days because i was getting tested for a life insurance. On day 11 my sample was given, it was a urine sample. Would like to know what are the chances for passing the test or not.

I feel it is unfair for vapers to be considered in the same risk scale as smokers.... That is why i am doing this, i really feel it is not cheating.

thanks in advance

Does Decreasing Nicotine Level To Quit Work?

A few month ago I was vaping 24mg juice, been doing that for a few years. I started strong to quit cigs. My biggest cravings happen when I wake up, and after a meal.

I made the decision to quit vaping so I cut the strength down to 10mg 2 month ago. Then a few days ago I cut down to 5mg. I plan do cut down further to 2.5mg a month from now, and then 1.25mg...etc. I do DIY juice so all I have to do is dilute my jar when I have 50% left.

Right now I still get some craving at trigger time, and each time I cut down, I need to puff more in the first few days.

I wonder if my cravings will decrease as my nic level decreases. Once I'm at 1.25mg I plan to quit cold turkey, and I wonder how hard it will be? I should also mention that I vape menthol, so each time I dilute my juice I'm also weakening the cooling sensation that I'm used to.

thanks

8 Year Vaperversary Today 3/28/21

I bought a backup rig as soon as I could afford it. Probably a week later.

Anyone Down To 0% Nicotine?

Hi All! Sorry if this is long. This place is a lifesaver. I was a 30 year PAD smoker. Tried all the recommendations to quit. Resigned to smoking forever. I heard of vaping in 2013 and found this site. The day my Ego arrived in the mail on April 15, 2013, I put down the cigs and haven’t had a puff since that day. (I still smoke in my dreams every night.) I started out at 18 mg, and went up to 24 for a while. I vaped way higher nicotine than my cigs had, and much more often. I even took my Ego pen to bed and put it under my pillow to use through the night. No matter how much Nicotine I inhaled, I still went through the same withdrawals that I did when quitting cold turkey, or the gum, or the patch, or setting a timer between smokes. It was obvious I wasn’t withdrawing from nicotine. It’s from whatever chemicals are in the cigarettes.

Over the last 7 years, I’ve gone down from 18mg, to 12, to 6, and now 3. Not by choice. I was happy at 18. I started getting lightheaded, so stepped down the nicotine in levels. Not because I wanted less nicotine, but because my body couldn’t handle it. I’m now at 3mg, and starting to getting lightheaded from it. Next step is 0mg. I’ve no problem going to no nicotine, but after so long, I can’t imagine not having the inhale/exhale/hand to mouth repetition.

Has anyone gotten to 0mg and still vapes, or have you broken the habit?

Aren't We All A Bit Obsessed About Vaping?

(I know this doesn't apply to all of us, but for me it sure does.)

I mean.. look at us. Spending so much time here on the forum reading about tips and tricks, what's your vape? what is the juice you vape? etc etc. I haven't joined a forum for 15 years or so. The last time i was on a forum i was a 16 year old boy, trying to figure out life and the best way i knew how was being anonymous on the internet asking and pondering life's questions.. like "*** am i supposed to do here on planet earth?"

Nowadays i watch daily video's about vaping. From health concerns to indoor smokers, from conspiracy theories (tobacco companies) to Rip Trippers. Outside the digital life whenever i'm home i either vape, try new juices, building another coil, wicking and make my girlfriend try a new taste oh.. almost forgot the most expensive part, checking out webstores for... whatever i think might be missing from my collection

Don't get me wrong though, i love it. It's fun, it's interesting, it's a bit of a nerd thing i guess. Trying to find the perfect vape. It's like a drug (and i know drugs, i like them.. from time to time with moderation offcourse
nicotine is a drug, caffeine is a psycho active drug, alcohol and offcourse all the illegal ones. From xtc to heroine, one worse then the other)

But i find it very interesting that since i started vaping that i somehow had this need to find fellow vapers and talk about it. Haven't had that feeling for years, to be part of something.

I also never ever attended a demonstration for anything in my life, but today in a couple of hours from now i'll be in Utrecht vaping with other vapers against the ****ty little regulations the EU forces on us vapers. I do this for multiple reasons;

1) i truly hate that whoever says i cannot do/buy/use something *as long i'm not hurting or bother someone else with it*
2) it pisses me off that the elite, may it be a person or the bigger companies use unfair tactics to get whatever they want
3) to meet fellow vapers and talk about... vaping..

Anyway yesterday night in bed i thought this and was wondering how you guys/girls feel about it
