Flavor ban on flavored cartridges will do kids more harm than good. If a minor wants to vape, smoke cigs, drink, or other things that are against the law and harmful for them no one can stop them except the parents.
What's going to happen is kids will buy blackmarket refilled cartridges or refill their own. I've never used a Juul but it took me 1 minutes on youtube to find out how to refill a empty Juul cartridge.
Most cartridges can be refilled so banning them is really a joke
This ban will only push kids to worse things, that's sad.
The only reason the Feds/state/local government haVE been after vaping is "LOSS OF TAX REVENUE FROM SMOKERS QUITTING". If vaping was taxes as heavy as smoking the Gov. could care less about vape banning.
So a few days back in another thread a member said "why not allow teens to buy zero nic pods or whatever" This is going to be a long post, so be forwarned lol
I get a little triggered on anyone using vaping for anything other than a cessation tool, let alone a teen. I proposed the following scenario, to which I'll also say - If we could go on-line and figure out how to refill/rewick cartos 8-10 years ago, what makes us think that in todays world every one else including underage, unscrupulous and greedy people aren't doing it also?
Let's say you come home from work, you run into your neighbor who says, "hey I saw your (underage) kid buying a e-cig at the corner gas station"
Would you say to your neighbor;
1.) thanks for the heads up, we're going to have a talk tonight
2.) I'm sure it was peer pressure, they'll be fine (assuming your neighbor had any knowledge and was positive it was zero nic)
Then would you;
1.) Think to yourself - wow, good for them, and ask them to show you what they bought?
2.) Think to yourself - wow, kid never smoked before, wth and then confront them & have a serious discussion on why it isn't ok.
If you assumed it was peer pressure and they'd be fine, then the school calls you and says your kid has been rushed to the hospital, they and a friend were using a vape pen that had xyz in it.
If you didn't assume it was ok and had a serious conversation with them and never got that call that they were rushed to the hospital.
We know that the device itself isn't the problem, it's what's in them. Some may be doing exactly what they say their doing, but if a friend says "hey I got this stuff to put in there" would they go for it, or say no? I would rather sit down & discuss, then turn a blind eye..and say oh, they'd never do that, but they're kids.
While it caused a stir with the OP, and little did I know here is how this has played out in real life this week:
The parent who questioned his kid about finding their vape dragged their little butt into the police department and was able to provide them with enough information to nail the kids (brothers) whose parents are the ones saying I don't know why they're saying these things about my kid
I might also add that while I would have credited the ones who were charged were very much entrepreneurs at a young age, it apparently turned to greed from the article/videos below. There set up had believable packaging, all of the findings by police resemble some other type of mfg including the guns, money, counting equipment.
If any indications point to them in the deaths of any of the vapers who have passed recently could they possibly be brought up on manslaughter?

Children Vaping is a Parenting Issue, NOT a Government Issue
I am so tired of the "What about the Children" crap I could scream.
I listened to some of the Round table talk with the President today at work.
I actually heard a woman exclaim WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN ...omg...
What's the matter with people that they can't parent their children and instead go crying to the government to DO SOMETHING ! ??
The school that let Juul in to talk with the kids...What the hell kind of school does that anyway ?
That really passed approval of the School Board ? THAT should be addressed.
Let's see...e-cigarettes are for 18 or older and kids are still getting them (just exactly like WE did with our cigarettes). HOW is raising the age to 21 going to magically stop that ?
ALL that is going to do is make it difficult for those smokers under 21 that need/want to stop smoking cigarettes.
Parents need to start paying attention to their children and what they are doing.
Get off the phones and iPads and act like a family.
I have a feeling many parents are going to be really surprised to find out that little kiddo's e-cig is really THC instead of nicotine.
How ya like THEM apples - huh ?
but...that's legal now so I guess it's just fine.
What a messed up world.
Yea...I'm a bit royally pissed.
At first I was not too concerned about a flavor ban because my wife and I use no flavoring and I mix my own... But now Romney and some dude named Jeff have a bill on the floor that includes banning refillable cartridges. That scared the holy bejesus out of me. It sounds like they want all e-cigs to be like the "Mojo" (a disposable closed system).
The frustrating part about this current situation is that all of this seems to have started from some black market THC cartridges, which has absolutely nothing to do with vaping. PG is used in children's asthma medication and nicotine is really not much more dangerous than caffeine, but everyone out there thinks that e-cigarettes are killing people.
I think our first mistake was calling them "e-cigarettes" instead of something like "nicotine delivery device"... The name "e-cigarettes" just causes those that are clueless group them in the same category as cigarettes. Big Tobacco and Big Pharma are probably loving this right now. Smoking kills 450-500k people per year, as far as I know vaping has killed 0, but sure, go ahead and put severe restrictions on vaping. I know it saved my life, 12 years ago I could not manage walking up a flight of stairs, every time I laughed it ended in a coughing fit. Then e-cigs came along and all of that changed.
I wish there was some way to educate the public, especially our government officials.
Friends,
I really have to stop reading the news.
Every single day there is a new article bashing and smearing vaping as a viable, healthy alternative to smoking the 'stink sticks' (I coined that yesterday, patent pending).
Anyway, it absolutely infuriates me when I read these one-sided articles that is backed by little to no research. Not to mention that these articles are most likely written with some sort of bias. Whether it be BT, BP or the numerous anti-smoking groups, very seldom do they actually ask anyone who knows anything about vaping and the initiative of the hobby/lifestyle and they sure don't interview actual vapers or want to hear the numerous stories of how vaping has saved so many lives.
They say they don't want to 'normalize or glamorize' smoking because it will make it more attractive to kids.
Well, you know what? The more you tell kids NOT to do something, the more they WILL do it. I know, I have 2 of them.
As a former smoker and now around 6 months smoke free, I detest smoking cigarettes. But having said that, I would rather see a kid puffing on a vape than on a Stink Stick.
So, yes, I can see the need for regulations, but the vaping industry does a good job with self-regulation and reputable businesses do not sell to minors.
But, kids will be kids and they will find a way to get their hands on cigarettes just like they do with alcohol.
Let's discuss and vape on!
Hi everyone,
I haven't been active for a very long time because i had gone back to my stinky habit again.
Probably because of the place that i am staying doesn't allow the sales of E-ciggy.
Recently, i have noticed that the people around me have started using small little pen device or some called it a Kit & close pod system whatever so. What i seen is just an ordinary device similar to my very first vape pen over a decade ago. Until I managed to get hold of my friend's RELX device and immediately i know what i'm looking for. Everything is so simplified, popped in the juice cartridge and start smoking like a cigarette! And I don't even need to press or hold any switch?! The best part of this device is so small and handy that can easily hidden under the radar of the place I stay but of course the disadvantage is that the cartridges cannot be refill and is costly. Anyway, for someone lazy like me, it should be perfect.
I have googled search a few brands with similar product specification and out of nowhere Bold Vape Lite caught my attention. Have anyone tried and review its product yet? How is the e-juice and build qualities? Because it's only cost $28 for set of kit and 5 cartridges? Dirt cheap compared to my friend's Relx!! Attached is how the package look like. Trust me and google it yourself. Anyway the cost is so low, I think no harm trying and I will update you guys again soon. Meantime, stay safe and healthy everyone
If people under a certain age are not allowed to purchase vape items, then what's the issue?
Just don't sell to any minors, and handle it like alcohol and tobacco. Go after any stores or vendors that break these rules and that sells to any minor and hit them with hefty fines or prosecution. Problem solved.
I reject the idiotic, false and unscientific argument that certain types of flavors are only suitable for kids. An adult is not allowed to like fruit flavors or desert flavors or any other type of flavor?
Do adults suddenly lose their sense of taste when they age, and they'll be content vaping poor tobacco imitation flavors and menthol for the rest of their lives?
I'm an adult, and my favorite flavors are custard type flavors. Just because I used to smoke, that doesn't mean that I should have to vape and like tobacco flavors. You don't ban all sorts of flavors and deny adults who are ex-smokers the opportunity to continue to be smoke free, just because they were lucky enough to have found and switched to vaping.
Sorry if I sound cynical, but so what if a handful of people have reportedly died because they were foolish enough to use blackmarket counterfeit items? Items that have zero to do with nic based vaping I should add.
How many millions of people die from tobacco related diseases?
Millions is a lot more than a handful last I checked, and the only thing that banning vaping and vaping related items will accomplish is to ensure that many more people will be added to the list of the dead as many will return to cigs and many current cig smokers will never make the switch to vaping, as the politicians seek to deny people the opportunity to stay off of cigs.
If they ever find a cure for cancer, I wouldn't be surprised if they ban that too, because 7 people happened to get some ill side effects from it.
The FDA has a decision on e cigs.they are supposed to be banning all flavored pods.
They are not going to be banning top tank e cigs because kids don't like them.
I hope this is true.friday we should know more. Happy New year.
So I heard that the ban in New York will take effect even after the small delay. I'm wondering how I will be able to cope soon. Vaping for me does great things as it keeps me off cigarettes. But one major thing it also does for me is that it lowers my stress level and it relaxes me. Being that I have vaping I have no need to try other things that can be complicated. Someone once told me that my vape is like my pacifier because I always have it in my mouth and I turn to it whenever I am stressed and have anxiety. Truthfully it's terrible that I will be forced to use my pods because Juul couldn't keep their products out of corner stores and leave them for vape shops. When these kids have health issues they blame it on vaping when their parents ask them how it happened and they wanted a high out of school. Even though there is something called deep breathing and vaping isn't done that way I know it cools me off. Many times I was stressed and sweating because, I started to vape and it had it that I was finally able to feel the temperature of the air outside. People need to understand that going with this ban is All Or Nothing thinking, things one is told in therapy to avoid. Now that "it affected a minority" people take it away completely from those who are benefiting from it. Those who are banning - please use common sense - vaping is a lot safer than cigarettes and people are constantly dying from smoke. Vaping was the best thing that has possibly happened in a really long time. Tobbaco plants had a misconception that it was supposed to be smoked until technology introduced a safe method. If it was vaped from the beginning of time people would have lived much longer lives and more people would be born. Those who are cracking down please take this into account.
Hi everyone, not seen this mentioned anywhere but the real reason why I (and must be others)vape is so I can have me time in my new man shed for vaping.Depending on what set up I'm using my wife used to banish me outdoors because of the clouds so what a great reason to buy a beautiful man shed dedicated to vaping and chilling(and away from kids, grand kids and she who must be obeyed),just me my cat Shoes and my clouds.............smoking is dead long live vaping, can you tell where I am lol
I'm off and on with vaping. Today I'm trying to vape to replace cigaretts. So why am I complaining? I have less than 1/4 tank of juice, which is almost doable, but now all of a sudden my ecig is barely hitting. It never does that! Vaping is just too difficult. With cigaretts, you just flip the top and know that you are good. If not, you can stop anywhere and refill. I don't have my personal, tolarable juice mixture here with me at work, so I can refill and make this work. No, I have less than a 1/4 tank of juice to get me through more than a 12 hour day.
Sorry. everytime I give it a go to get off of cigaretts, I run into these similar issues. And it's not often that I give it a real go, so it's double frustrating. It's not like "oh well, just try again tomorrow".
