I posted the whole url this time instead of trying to link it lol
How the FDA Is Saving the Cigarette
I just came across this article, claiming that even nicotine-free e-liquids contain lung-harming substances like acrolein:
Nicotine-Free E-Cigarette Vapor Also Damages Lung Cells Lung Cancer News Today
What I hate about articles such as these is that they're almost always posted with some scary headline and usually end up saying there isn't a proper research into topic or they're awaiting further investigations.
Anyhow, can anyone comment on what 'acrolein' is? I've heard of formaldehyde being created when vaping on high wattage, but this is the first time I hear of acrolein.
I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow, and he had asked that I try to quit vaping and switch to nicotine gum because ecigs create formaldehyde in the lungs, which is terrible for you. I know many of you have dealt with this BS, so here's a short, easy-to-read article by a doctor explaining exactly why these studies are ridiculous and misleading. There is much more in-depth stuff out there, but for something by a medical professional that is still very scientific but still easy enough to approach that people will actually read it, I think it's pretty darn good.
The deception of measuring formaldehyde in e-cigarette aerosol: the difference between laboratory measurements and true exposure
Honestly, this USA Today is one of the first articles I've read where someone is actually talking to some of the people who have experienced first hand serious health issues from the underground and worthy of a read:
Vaping illnesses: Crisis mixes teens, black market THC, no regulation
It's not meant to be Spam but please share this:

To get more people to sign. The regulations are terrible, Look:
Can you please summarise what the TPD will impose and the timeframe?
TPD Article 20 imposes regulations on e-cigarettes and e-liquid including restrictions on bottle sizes, nicotine strength, tank sizes and devices that will be available. It prohibits advertising, and introduces a number of testing and reporting measures that will significantly increase production costs and therefore sale prices. The current indicative timeframe has “implementing act” requirements starting in the last quarter of 2015, with an expectation that several if not all of the more severe restrictions will be in place by May 2016.

I just got an email from Web MD (I get them on various topics almost daily) dealing with smoking cessation. While the main article didn't mention e-cigarettes, there was a link to another article at the bottom of the page which did:
E-Cigarettes: Health and Safety Issues
Seemed fairly reasonable to me.
I was surprised by this chart that I recently came across.
It shows that the USA is the biggest market by far for vape products.
There are still over a billion, old fashioned tobacco smokers in the world. Vaping has been around for many years already, yet there are only slightly over 40 million vapers in the world, of which I am proud to call myself a part of that wise group.
With all of the anti-vape propaganda and nonsense taking place, it seems that there is a movement out there to keep those billion+ cig smokers hooked on their cigs and also to deny the 40+ million vapers out there the freedom and the choice to remain cig free.
I guess it's better that millions of people die from cancer, because vaping is just pure evil and the work of satan, or something like that. Oh, and think about the kids. Nevermind the kids who would previously just start smoking plain old regular cigarettes before vaping ever existed. That was never a big deal.
Here is the chart I found showing the top vape markets in the world.
And notice how there are no third world countries on the list? Isn't vaping banned in India? That's insane. That country has a huge population. How stupid of them. Their actions are contributing to the deaths and diseases of an awful lot of people.
And here is a link to the article which the chart came from:
How many people vape?
Yesterday I was reviewing a bunch of recently published patent applications on e-cigs (for fun, which I know . . . is sort of questionable). Didn't find anything new and exciting to share on potential new products, though I did learn a lot more about what problems the industry is trying to resolve. On the other hand, I did find a couple of claimed inventions too amusing not to share.
First is U.S. Patent App. No. 8,9757,64. It has the idea of sticking a bunch of magnets on cylindrical blade assembly to power an e-cig. Every time I think of this, I just imagine someone sucking on their e-cig until it spins up and sounds like a siren whistle. You know, the ones we used as kids to annoy the crap out of everyone. I included a pic to help elaborate my overactive imagination.

Second is another inventor (as shown in CN204119379) who thought it would be a good idea to include video and audio recording on an e-cig. Why, you might ask? So you can use it on your car dashboard to record traffic ahead. MVP killer anyone?
i was reading Another seemingly misleading article and something occurred to me tertiarily.
This dead kids thing isn’t just the biggest e-cigarette problem of the moment, it’s ALSO the biggest legalized cannabis problem of the moment as well. People are dying because they’re buying fake drugs they think are from legal sources.
What if this whole thing is an attempt to shift blame FROM legal cannabis TO e-cigarettes? Are all of the fast moving politicians from states that recently legalized? BT would have a big thing to gain because they kill two birds. They’re heavily heavily invested in legalized cannibis AND they hate ecigs.
Just a thought. Might be worthless. Thought I’d throw it out there though. Maul away. I’m interested to see what’s wrong with it.
I was just watching MSNBC and they said (paraphrased) that a study from Belgium has noted that people who smoke seem to be much less likely to get COVID, and they believe it may be because both nicotine and COVID bind to the same cell receptors (or some thing like that - I'm not a medical person lol), so they think nicotine might block COVID from being able to attach to the cell. They're looking into the connection, but say it's waaayyyy too soon to know anything for sure yet. Meanwhile, in the interim, as I refill my vape...
