Basic Newbie Questions

Folks, I apologize for the newbie questions but trust me, I've spent a lot of time reading and still have some confusion - partly because I find contradictory information everywhere. I hate when people come on forums asking questions before doing their research but I've tried.

While I've been vaping for over a year, it's been with a Juul. (3rd party pods) My flavored pod horde is about to be exhausted so here I am.

What I'm looking for is something comparable to what my Juul with 3% pods gave me - smoothness (I do NOT want a harsh throat feel like many seem to be after), availability of nice flavors, no need for a lot of nicotine, no need for 'clouds'. I was using the 3% not really because of the lower nicotine but because it wasn't as harsh as the 5-6% pods.

I guess my question is what type juice and coil resistance should I be looking for? I purchased a Smok NFix and like the device but I seem to be getting a tad bit of juice in my mouth regardless of what wattage I set it to. (I've tried multiple .8 Ohm coils and 3mg juice labeled for "subohm" use) I also seem to be getting a lot more nicotine than I'm used to.

I've also tried a Novo 2 and occasionally get that juice in my mouth but not nearly as often. I also seem to be getting a lot more nicotine than I'm used to.

Obviously I'm doing something wrong.

Another thing I'm confused about is the wide range of nicotine strengths - 3% on up to 55+%? I must be missing something because the 3% seems to be killing me, again I must be doing something wrong.

Suggestions for what I should be looking at to find something comparable to the 3% Juul?

Thanks

Throat Hit With 50/50 3mg Juice

Hi there e-cigarete-forum family, im just a feller trying to quit smoking, i tried many times but i really can't. So im planning to buy a GeekVape Aegis Boost Plus with RBA, but i really have few questions really messes up my mind.

Problem is the throat hit comes from nicotine mostly, but the thing is, i don't really want to take mg's like 6-9-12 mg's for that, because i don't wanna get addicted to the nicotine, i just like the vapor, and also i don't want to experience any nicotine od, which im really scared of it.

Is it possible to get any throat hit with 50/50 3mg Juice with a MTL device? Probably a stupid question to ask but i just wanna learn the truth of it, thanks to y'all!

Lower Nicotine When Doing Lung Hits?

So I've been mouth to lung vaping since I started vaping. Started at 24 mg with the Halo Triton and when I upgraded to the iStick and the Nautilus I lowered my nicotine down to 15 mg. It's been fine.......getting enough nicotine so I don't crave analogs, not getting too much nicotine so that I start feeling sick. Throat hit has been fine and not uncomfortable.

Yesterday I started doing lung hits with the iStick and the Nautilus and with the greater amount of vapor I can produce, I stepped the nicotine down to 12 mg since I also started to get a little lightheaded (I suppose with the greater amount of vapor I am also taking in more nicotine, even though nicotine absorption through the lungs is not supposed to be as good as through the mouth and nose). The juice that I am using is also a 70VG/30PG mix as compared to the 50/50 I was vaping before. However this morning I woke up with an irritated throat and the vape (even when switching back to mouth to lung) feels more harsh.

Do I need to step down the nicotine level even more to 6 mg? Is this normal when going from mouth to lung to direct lung hits? I'm not subohming, so I didn't expect that I would need to drop it down that much. I'm afraid that if I drop it down too much, then I'm going to have more cravings and will need to vape constantly.

Diy Salt Juices And Diy Coils

So I've got a bit of a convoluted question. I've been vaping for about 8 years and followed most of the trends. Spent a fair amount of time in deep subohm territory with freebase juice, low nic levels, lots of thick flavorful clouds. Over the last two years I've gravitated towards the salt juices with the tiny mods and PIP coils. The cost of replacement coils is getting annoying when combined with the cost of salt nicotine juices in comparison to the freebase bottles I used to buy. To address this I've tried building my own high ohm coils on the SMOK Rpm rebuildable head. Results have been less than satisfactory.

For what ever reason, even when I can block the airflow and build a high ohm coil..the flavors in salt nicotine always taste awful, nothing like what they taste like in the rpm 1.0 coil. As near as I can tell, the only reason I can think of is the different style of wicks..inner cool wick for a DIY vrs outer wick for the smok prebuilts.

This got me thinking of building a juice that's a bit heavier and smoother with a higher vg content and flavor content to work in a DIY coil (prob something simple like a single 26-28 gauge spaced wrap) but still pack some of the nic punch (sans throat hit) as a salt based juice..and will still work in a pod device. I'm thinking it would probably need to be in the 12-15mg nic range to get a similar buzz as the 25-35mg nice I usually vape at low power.

Is this even feasible..or are the flavors and thickness of the old style free base juices incompatible with salt based nicotine? A 40pg/60vg juice with a 12-15mg salt nic level that will work on a .8 single coil at 10-15 watts or so I think. And not taste awful.

In my state it's becoming problematic to source flavors other then basic tobacco.. so it might be time to go strictly DIY with a pod type device.

Weird E-liquid / Juice Issue

Hey guys,

So I ordered some 0mg bottles of eliquid 60ml online (full bottles not short fills) in a flavor that I have been vaping for awhile.

I took them to my local Vape shop and asked my usual guy to add nicotine to them. I normally smoke 6MG on my sub-ohm set up @ 0.2 ohms and 70w. So he added 6MG like he usually does.

When I got home it tasted weird. I would t say it was harsh, but it definitely had more of a throat hit / kick to it.

Normally @ 6MG I can pull / suck until I run out of breath and it comes out smooth. However this time I would hit it for 2-3 seconds and had to stop as it felt over powering.

As mentioned it wasn’t too harsh, and didn’t make me cough or anything. It just felt stronger and after a few puffs I felt a weird peppery feeling in my throat. Like I had just ate a spicy meal or food with a lot of pepper.

What could have gone wrong? I’m guessing 1 of the following things:

- He put in too much nicotine by mistake and more than 6MG? I called him after the fact, and he swears he put 6MG using the same calculations as always.

- He used the wrong type of nicotine? I normally always use 6MG freebase. Maybe he put in salts?

- Normally I give him 60ml short fills, this time I gave him full 60ml bottles. So maybe that screwed up his calculations of how much nicotine to add?

- His nicotine has gone bad / oxidized? Although the color of the juice looks normal and isn’t overly dark or red.

- Maybe I just need to let the juice sit for a few days for the nicotine to absorb into the liquid better? (Although this has never been an issue in the past)

Luckily I also asked him to add 3mg and 4.5mg to a few bottles (for my wife who prefers 3-4.5mg). I tested the 3mg and it tastes fine and smokes smooth. Although it does feel like the nicotine is a little too low for me. I then added some 4.5mg to my tank (which was half full of 3mg) and it seemed to be perfect. Like the 6MG I was used to in the past.

As this point I’m thinking to just get some 120ml chubby gorilla bottles and mix 60ml @ 3mg w/ 60ml @ 6mg and hopefully that will do the trick.

If anyone has any thoughts or ideas on what went wrong please let me know.

Thanks!

What's The Reasoning For Vaping 0mg Nic Juice? ... I Don't Get It

I was in a bar / restaurant a couple of days ago and noticed another person vaping (guy looked to be in his late 60s). The guy was using what looked like a non-adjustable EGO style stick battery with what looked like an 'old-school' Kanger T3 clearomizer on top.

I struck up a conversation with him for just a moment and asked him what type of juice he was vaping ... The guy never told me the brand or flavor, but said it was 0mg Nic when I asked him.

That was basically the end of our conversation.

My question to you folks is this .... Why would anyone keep vaping if they had no nicotine in there juice? For me, the reason I vape in the first place is to keep off cigarettes. I am obviously addicted to nicotine, and have replaced the nicotine from cigarettes for the nicotine found in my juice.

If I could wean myself completely off nicotine, I think at that point I would just give up on vaping altogether. Someday I would like to be nicotine free, but for now, I just can't see it in my future.

BTW .... I have not smoked a cigarette for 15 months, but I am still vaping on my fairly strong 16mg Nic DIY juice.

How Much Nicotine Am I Getting Per Vape Hit?

Okay, so I Vape in very “precise” ways but I cannot figure out how to calculate (do the proper math) on how much I nicotine I am consuming. Can someone help? I have been vaping the exact same way daily for a long time, but still don’t know how much nicotine I get (just an estimate) per session because I suck at math...

Details:
1.) I vape 3mg (3mg of nicotine, per ml of juice) of nicotine using a “Smok Nfix” that holds a 3ml pod of nicotine juice. So that’s 9mg of nicotine, per pod.

2.) I set the wattage to exactly 22W on the vape, always, and it is a MTL pod device.

3.) I take EXACTLY 5 puffs over a period of 5-10 mins. Every puff is EXACTLY 5 seconds. Sometimes only 4 seconds, but just say 5 to make it easier. I use my watch or phone’s timer to make certain the timing is exact. I inhale the same way every time. So 5 puffs X 5 seconds, per puff, equals 25 seconds total for each vape session. After those 5 puffs, I don’t vape again (at all) for 1-3 hours, just depending.

....But how do I figure out how much nicotine I am getting in those 5 puffs? I know that in my Nfix pod there is 9mg of nicotine, in each pod.

I also believe 1 full pod (3ML) gives approximately 325 seconds worth of puffs, with each puff being only 1 SECOND. I only tested this one time so I am not certain, but it’s an estimate.

Can anyone help me do the right math here?
I also still smoke ultra light Marlboro cigarettes (from what I read on multiple sources you only absorb about 0.5mg to 0.7mg of nicotine per cig on the ultra lights) but only 1-3 cigarettes per day.
But I am wondering if my 5 puffs on the vape (5 puffs @ 5 second each) is even remotely close to being equal to an ultra light cigarette that has about 0.5mg nicotine per cig?
Thanks, I suck at math so if anyone can help lol

Nicotine Strength For Sub-ohm Vaping

Hi I have a question about nicotine strength in my juice for sub-ohm vaping: I've only started vaping my tfv12 prince smok tank 4 days ago, so total newbie- used to do only mtl before that. I'm currently using Q4 coils, 0.4 ohm, vaping at 50-60 Watts: quite happy with a cooler vape, I tried them at 70-90 but slightly too warm for me, maybe in the future it will change.
Majority of the sites and youtube videos that I came across where sub-ohm vaping was discussed said that the maximum nicotine strength used when sub-ohm vaping should be 6mg/ml. So I've mixed a few juices, 70/30 vg/pg, ranging from 3-6mg nic. I noticed that I'm chain-vaping with very little nicotine hit. But i kept nicotine cravings sattisfied with my mtl device used simultanously.
Today however, I wanted to check something. I've mixed some 65/35 VG/PG liquid for my gf's smok nord pod a few days ago, with nicotine at approx. 11.5mg/ml, so I popped it into my prince tank to try it. Expected to choke on it but no- it vapes great at 60 Watts, tastes good (carnival sherbet concentrate + a little bit of strawberry cream concentrate added) nicotine hit: I can feel it, but unless I go crazy it doesn't make me nic sick.

Is this normal? Why do people recommend going max 6mg nic for sub-ohm vaping? Is it because they aren't recent ex-smokers or they never were smokers, and just use low nic liquids at their stage of vaping? Thanks

Best Vendor For Pure Nicotine Liquid And A Few Other Questions

Hi,

Unfortunately they are about to ban nicotine E juice in my country in 6 months time. I was stocking up on my regular E juice but this is not really a long term feasible solution.

Luckily I vape unflavoured, so I figure it shouldn't be too hard to make myself.

I had a bit of a look around and found liquid nicotine, up to 250mg/ml, or nicotine salts, both USP, whatever that means.

Just wondering what the best nicotine product would be for long term storage and quality. If someone could recommend a vendor and product that would be great. I normally vape 70/30 pg juice from Heather's heavenly vapes.

I would prefer a liquid than a salt unless there is a big difference in shelf life.

Thanks for your advice

Problem With My Dna

So I've got an Orion DNA system. Pods. And my juice keeps burning my throat even with new pods. The cotton isn't burnt and my juice is salt. Same brand I've been using for a while in fact. But now it's just starting to burn the back of my throat like free based juice. Idk what's up with that. My friend has the same device, and same pods (.25) as me and not only is his quieter, but it doesn't burn my throat either. Any advice?
