All About The Taste

Been vaping and quited smoking last year December 07,2014. Until now, my set up is strictly just two (2). First Vivi Nova 3.5ml + a Vamo 6, with one spare tank and 3 wicks. Then after a month I bought a second set-up namely: Aspire Nautilus 5ml + a Cloupor mini 30W. I do have a have a bad habit of having/purchasing a replacement or emerency tank so I also have an Aspire Nautilus Mini and 5 spare BVC coils. Well my rough estimation is around less than USD200 including e-Juice which I got from friends... Marlboro and Cuban Cigar flavors.

I mix those two juices, because Cuban Cigar juice is almost perfect clear in color, while Marlboro is Light to medium yellow... while Cuban cigar CAN be vaped at 15up Watts without burnt taste, but lacks "Throat hit" so, I add 30/20 cuban /Malrboro for more throat hits... all at zero (0) nico. btw.

Goal is: to keep away from analogs, still play with moderate vapor and enjoy throat hits + the smell of cigar and try to save money. I consider myself a "Casual Vaper".  

Bear with me all as I have to be a bit verbose.

I have a boxer bf mod I have numerous Rda I am vaping mtl a juice I’ve been vaping 5+ years.
I didn’t use my boxer or any rda for a while. When I did a rebuild as usual I noticed a “bad” flavour. Like most of you I went through a series of steps to no avail

I changed atomisers did a new build and soaked (vinegar, then retainer brite, baking soda and ultimately boiled) the other one I confirmed if I drip the juice tastes as expected I changed bottles and soaked (like above) the bottle I took apart the boxer and soaked the 510 (as above)
Obviously these cleanings weren’t all at once. I tried vinegar. Then when that failed I tried retainer brite (great to remove discolouration but leaves a slightly mint flavour for a few draws),when that didn’t work I tried boiling.

At this point I’m starting to wonder if something is going on with the way the mod is activating. The only thing left I can think of is that for some reason (and I’m not sure why it would have developed) when the metal bar contacts the ring on the 510/feeding tube area there’s some kind of charge that’s happening and raining juice or melting plastic (which I don’t see). Either that or there is some mould or something deep in the 510 assembly.

Have any of you ever experienced this kind of flavour terrible all of a sudden? I have now tried 4 bottles with four tubes. I have cleaned every element at least five times. I have confirmed I’m not just tasting it wrong by dripping.

it’s clearly not the atomiser or build related. I have a hard time believing it’s bottle related after what I’ve done to them.

I just cannot figure this out. The next step of course is going to be to try and use the same bottles /atomiser on another mod but I thought I’d ping you all to see what your thoughts are - because in ten years of vaping I haven’t experienced this, and troubleshooting has taken hours so far.

Just a few final points
no shorting Very minor sparks as you’d expect from this mod and the way it makes contact at an angle Been vaping a very long time and building since almost day one The rda’s are authentic, stainless etc I’ve tried 3 of them at least It’s not wire or cotton
I’m stumped. Appreciate any thoughts.  

I got a great number of responses on my last post, with tons of useful information, so here’s another question I have for you all. What is the best type of juice for flavor in a MTL RTA?

I’ve found that lower mg salt nic usually tastes better than its higher mg counterpart - I.E. a 30mg and a 50mg bottle of the same juice will taste better in the 30mg option.

I’ve read about people smoking 0, 3, and 6mg freebase in pod systems, so I bought some myself to try it out in my MTL RTA (the lady at the vape shop said 3mg would have a lot more flavor than Nic salts).

I’m not sure if I somehow got a bad batch of juice (I have 4 different flavors/ 2 different brands so idk the likelihood of that) or what, but it doesn't have a prominent taste.

Ive tried from .6 to 1.2ohm coils with 28ga stainless steel single round, as well as some 1ohm mtl fused claptons. Is it possible to make the juice work with my current set up or do I need to buy different gauge wire and up my watts? I’m not interested in heavy cloud production, just flavor.  

One of my friend on the other forum I visit said he had used vaping to quit cigarette,weed,cigar and shisha,it’s just so dam effective?
Last year when I was using Vape continuously for 6 month,my then gf suspected that I was high on .......,which I know I am not myself...

I´m planing to store some eLiquids in a Cedar Cigar Box that I have from my old days

Do you know if the Cedar smell can change the Flavor of the eLiquids? I´m planing to keep them with their caps on, but just wanted to be sure that I will not change their original flavors

I,m new so please forgive me if I,m asking stupid questions and in wrong place , someone recommended I use homemade atomisers IE 2 screws and some wire and cotton wool which is really not my thing but the question is how do you know what strength (ohms) it’s going to be running at ? And if the answer is you don’t know ,does it matter and would you do it with a high strength liquid. Confused in Thailand lol  

I need help asap. I am in tears as I just don't know what to do. I keep getting this awful taste from vaping, it's sort of in my nose as well, it's a chemical horrid acrid taste, I have changed oils, tried different company's. I have renewed the oil barrel (cleartomizer?) sorry not down with the lingo. I have tried about 4 new ones. I am at a loss. I know I may have vapour fatigue, as I can hardly taste any of my old flavours, however why am I tasting a horrible taste? I can understand not tasting anything, but can't understand why everything tastes horrible. I have been vaping for 9 weeks after smoking for 25 years, I was getting on great guns really enjoying it, now I am in tears as I just don't want to start smoking again, but I can't stand the taste I am getting. At the moment I am vaping a mint one as it's the only one that covers up the horrible taste. But not completely. I usually vape sweet stuff, like caramel, blueberry, Amaretto. Help please.  

I haven't had a cigar for a year and a half, but due to not being diligent in watching an auto re-enroll in my favorite cigar club I was still paying 250.00 a year for the club. Since I still had fond memories of the place, and a lot of business acquaintances still there I thought I would stop by and maybe indulge in a nice stick (they have a lovely walk-in humidor there). It had been so long I didn't really know what to expect, except I had a lot of really good times there and was looking forward to reconnecting with old friends and having a really good cigar.

I got there about 5:30 and there was the typical blue haze and the aroma of premium cigars, leather chairs, and premium liquors, just like I remembered. Trouble is, I really didn't appreciate the smell of cigars like I did in years past. In fact, it was a bit nauseous. But a few of the old crew (business associates and friends) were there and it was great to see them again. I took a look inside the humidor to pick out a nice stogie but TBH just wasn't enthused with the smell of the sticks the way I used to be. I decided I really didn't want one and returned to the lounge and pulled out my iStick 50 and Atlantis and sat down with some friends. In the middle of a conversation about local business trends I was interrupted by the hostess and told vaping wasn't allowed there. Seriously?? I paid a lot of money for the privilege of sitting in a nice leather seat and smoking whatever I felt like. I told her that I intended, as a member, to smoke (I didn't use the word vape because I figured that would have confused the poor girl) what I liked in a club I had paid my yearly dues for. So she quickly left and I got back to my friends that had lots of questions about my iStick.

About 10 minutes later the young lady had returned and handed me a check for 250.00 saying the owner had refunded my membership fees and suggested I find a suitable club for vaping. WoW! So ok, I left and set a meet with my friends there at a local restaurant and we had a nice dinner and talked vaping stuff, after which I took them to a local shop so they could buy similar rigs to my vaping rig.

This happened about a month ago and of the 5 friends I met with for dinner and took to the vape shop afterwards, 4 have stopped smoking cigars and now vape only and love it. But none of them got a refund check for their yearly dues to the cigar club like I did. So at this point, I'm feeling like the lucky one.

Strange times to be a vaper I guess... even the smokers hate us.  

After taking onboard what everybody told me about not using a 50mg nic salt with a 0.5 coil I switched to 25mg nic salt . I got some new 1.2 coils , it took 3 weeks to get from England , and I don’t like them at all, it completely changes the taste . So back to the 0.5 . So I tried cutting the liquid by 25% with PG ,and it’s ok but not wow . Then I tried mixing the 25 mg salt with 3mg freebase and again it’s ok but not wow . I have used 18 mg liquid with the 0.5 atomiser for yrs so how bad is it using the 25 mg nic salt with the 0.5 coil because that’s the one that I really like .and I don’t feel drunk I feel fine .
