The center pin on an Onslaught RDA doesn't protrude. I put a screwdriver to it and unscrewed it a little until it protruded. Now it works on a mech mod with a hybrid connection.
Problem?
Anyone know of any hybrid mech mods? (Direct atomizer to battery connection)
Hello All, I have a question regarding the modification of an rda adjustable positive pin to work (better & safely) with a hybrid connection top on a new mech I purchased. The mod is not a true hybrid since it has the flush sitting 510 threaded top cap without a pin inside, allowing the atty to make direct contact with the battery.
My question is, can you take out the adjustable positive pin and put a kind of insulating "washer" between the pin and the negative threads to ensure the outer threads do not make contact with the positive terminal on the battery? I would also like to put a better, wider pin in that will make a better connection and not indent the positive terminal on the batt. Anyone have any advice for this?
I can not seem to make my troll rda flush. I keep hearing horror stories with the hybrid adapter so I'm nervous to use it. Any suggestions?
what exactly is a hybrid mod?
Hey forum folks. I got lucky enough to win beyond vape's monthly prize and chose the neptune V1 hybrid mech mod. It will be making its way to me soon but in the mean time I need to get all the various goodies to make use of it. I need some recommendations for battery, battery charger, and dual coil build for the 3post rda that is built into it as this is my first rda and mech mod.
Thanks in advance
An online vape shop here at Greece at the description for dotBox Dual Mech mod says"
"Switch to Parallel Mode for longer Vaping time and exceptional power from two 18650 batteries".
The dotbox dual mech has the option to select series or parallel connection via a switch.
I send them a email that this doesn't apply (for the same power output always),for example 0.1 ohm coil in parallel connection and 0.4 ohm coil in series connection.
Two batteries in series provide the same amount of watt hours a parallel connection does.
The vapeshop replied and told me that the description is copy and paste from Dotmod.com
Indeed.
QUOTE from dotBox Dual Mech - dotmodretail
"Last Longer. Switch to Parallel Mode for longer Vaping time and exceptional power from two 18650 batteries".
The vape shop also said that the voltage sag at parallel connection is spread out over the two batteries in Parallel. Thus more vaping time than using a series connection.
Okey I made the calculations for voltage sag using for example two Sony VTC5A 18650 batteries with a DC Internal Resistance = 18.6mOhms (0.018 ohm).
I got the same voltage sag 0.378 V in both configurations (0.1 build in parallel-0.4 build in series).
Am i correct or am I missing something?(i'll send to the vape shop the link for this thread so they can read your opinions because i think they believe i'm talking bulls..t!
Here are Two pics of a hybrid mod top cap I recently bought. As you can see, the positive tab on the battery is directly connected to your 510 pin or whatever it comes in contact with at the bottom of your atty.
Here is a pic of the 510 pin on the bottom of the Atlantis:
The pin simply pushes into a grommet and floats there. If the pin comes in contact with the side of the atty it will short the circuit and if left there will short the battery. Notice how close the pin is to the sides of the atty. If that grommet gets deformed in any way, that pin can touch those sidewalls and short the circuit. After screwing and unscrewing the atty on and off mods, that pin and grommet can move out of its centered position. On a hybrid mod if this atty is over tightened directly onto the positive tab of the battery, the pin can MASH down onto it, deform the grommet and touch the sidewall causing a short. Someone not aware of this with little experience has a ticking time bomb in their hands. Be safe out there.
For most atties, are the 510 center pins the same? Actually, I asking about rebuildables like RTAs. Same length, diameter, threads, ect? Can you even get replacements? I need some that "protrude" more from the 510 connetor. I know, someone suggested just adding a tiny or-ring but I don't trust that would be strong enough.
I ordered two of these batteries from FastTech. The cheap price and high capacity (without having a mod or some awkward huge battery) attracted me to them. Some two weeks later they show up...
I have two Puff King chargers that came with starter kits we bought at a B&M store. We've been using them with Tripl3 eGo batteries, one Puff King battery (and another Puff King battery, which was taken back and exchanged for another eGo-T battery, which broke), and so far no problems screwing any batteries in. These two from FT show up however and neither will screw into one Puff King charger, but they both did into the other (same charger, down to the model number and everything). Now, one battery from FT still screws in, but the other doesn't.
I took the non screwing in battery to a local B&M store and the guy there was able to screw it into one of their chargers. He handed it to me, and I unscrewed it, screwed it back in, unscrewed it again, and then neither of us could screw it in again. Now I have one battery from FT that will screw into one of my chargers, but not the other. The other battery will charge, but it has to just like sit in the charger and hope the connection stays okay for it to charge. I still have no problems screwing any of my other batteries into either charger, just these ones from FT. Also, it's worth mentioning that the FT batteries never seemed to screw in right... it always felt weird and finicky getting it to go in.
What's up with these batteries? They claim to be eGo/510 threaded, just like my other batteries. They look just like my other batteries too, except they won't screw in right...
I got some coupons in the mail today for a vuse and a cartridge pack for free so I figured I'd try it for fun. It was the worst experience ever.
The quality feels horrible. The connection between the cart and the battery is a flimsy feeling plastic connection. I'm not sure how it's supposed to work. Do you push? Do you twist? Kinda hard to tell, sometimes it didn't make a connection. Same problem with the charger provided. The charger actually split at the seam when I tried to fit the battery in it.
Luckily, I didn't have to charge it. Not cause the battery was dead though. The taste was absolutely horrible. I had 4 people try it, and 3 out of 4 gagged. It's not just the taste, it's the 4.8% nic that really hits you.
The commercials make this thing seem like a solution to the problem caused by the people who make it, but I think it's true intent is to scare people away from ecigs in general. If that was my first, it may have been my last. The markten at least looks good.
