My spouse says he doesn't need anything fancy and is happy to vape with the tank and battery he has.... Great! He doesn't want to research anything, but will listen to me when I talk about gear and tanks and whatever.
Every time I upgrade, he gets jealous of my better flavor/vapor, look of gear or whatever has changed. No big deal, he gets all my old gear when I get new....
Except that gear he was once coveting is no longer what he wants because he is now coveting my NEW gear!
Problem is, he has already called me from the road (in the middle of the night) to trouble shoot his Nautilus/Vamo set up, is always getting me to fix his stuff and when I try to show him how to do it he just kind of wanders off.
There is no way I am giving him an RBA!!! I can see me now building all his coils and getting frantic calls when he is on the road!!!
Anyone else have this problem with their SO? If so how do you deal with it? I get soooo frustrated! The man would run out of juice and never have a charged battery if he had to take care of it himself. Maybe I should just let him flounder for a while?
After around 7-8 years of vaping, I started smoking again. It happened Labor Day weekend. Some triggering, stressful, and highly irritating things went down. There have been a few times I've smoked before (since switching), but not for any amount of time.
The gear I have right now isn't doing much for me. Which makes me feel like a spoiled a hole, because I originally quit with 808 cig likes
My mod is an MVP 4.... I think The tank is a cleito pro. The other mod I have is so so. My e liquid is 9 mg DIY mint. It does not feel harsh enough. Buying new gear doesn't excite me at all anymore. So do any of you have some suggestions, for gear? I know what I need to do regarding the e liquid.
So I just placed an order for some vape gear on Gear Beast. Been eye balling their site for a few weeks now.... kinda seems like the new fasttech in a way. I've ordered from fasttech many times. Their shipping was actually quite fast when they first started selling vape gear, but that went down hill quick as they got more popular.
So I'm wondering what kinda time line I'm looking at for a west coast USD delivery of my purchase. I figured you guys could help me out as I'm assuming a few people seeing this post will have ordered from them before.
How often we hear in this forum of pricey gear that stopped working after it was dropped. Sounds to me like planned obsolescence. Let's use this thread to recommend gear that has proven to be sturdy.
Steer clear of mentioning yet again the gear that didn't make it. B-o-r-i-n-g! This is a good-news blog.
My own example: the no-brand-name ego-style clones I got in a starter kit at EasyVapors.com--with two vapes, etc.--which cost me $26 (now down to $22). I've replaced worn-out batteries ($7) and gotten extra clearomizers ($2-$2.50) for different flavors, but I've dropped that vape just about every day. No problems!
Due to the flavor ban that might eventually affect the whole country and the upcoming pmta deadline that will make it a challenge for companies to release any products at all, is it possible that vape gear will disappear. There is the diy option for juice so im more concerned about hardware. Any thoughts?
Whenever i go out for a drink on the town with the lady, I'll see vapsters here and there with their sub-ohm setups. And here i am with my Nautilus Mini and whatever low-wattage mod I decided to pair it with.
Honestly, each day I seem to enjoy using these low wattage devices, such as the VV4 and a Nautilus Mini, more and more as opposed to my sub-ohm gear.
With my Nautilus, the flavor and throat hit is always spot on, and the vapor is nice too for what it is. I seem to be using this setup more and more lately... And when subbing, it's rare for me to get that satisfying hit, i just find myself vaping more and more to feel satisfied thus burn through a ton of juice. With a Nautilus, I get that satisfying hit right away and vape here and there.
With my sub-ohm gear, juices can be a hit or miss at times in terms of flavor and hit. But i can always count on my Nautilus Mini to give me exactly what I want each and every time.
I even bought a MVP20 at a killer price to perfectly compliment the Nautilus Mini. I wouldnt be burning through nearly as much juice, thus saving me money in the long run.
It's nice to blow crazy big clouds in public, but im starting to fall back on mimicking a standard cigarette with vaping rather than chase clouds.
Am i crazy for shying away from sub-ohming? Maybe it will be fun again after i take a break from it?
Greetings,
maybe I was bored. Maybe to much doom and gloom on all the bans of new gear and the shipping of it. I started to think - why not have some fun with some of the stuff I already have?
Cases in point - the two rigs in the picture above. I believe that all the hardware (mods and tanks) are over 5 years old. The setup on the left has a bit of a story about it.
Sitting on my desk is a few old tube mods that I wonder what it would be like to use again. I found a old (I think KFv3) tank laying around, built a very low mass 2ohm coil in it, filled it up and went and tried it out on my old 15W tube mods. Sadly not a one of them liked the KFv3 and would register the 2ohm coil. So what to do? I had a old Evic that surely could be put into power mode. While I was not to surprised that it all works (I've actually refilled the tank a few times and replaced the battery once) the vape is more restrictive than I tend to like and be it the build (or the 10W power mode) I don't really like the flavor of the unflavored juice with this. Another negative is that while it is top fill, there is no juice flow control so the atomizer get flooded each time the tank is refilled. While I could (and have) used it in a pinch, I can get 1-2 tank fills on a single 3000mah battery.
The setup on the right represents some historical firsts for me. Years ago when I first got into rebuilding a Lemo2 was one of three tanks I bought when I started. It was also my first top fill tank. Sitting under it is my first ever Dicodes mod (a #6). This mod is setup in TC mode with 380F temperature setting and 23W.
Be it the better tank or the use of TC mode, the setup on the right provides a good vape. The 26650 has enough mah to easily allow me to vape the tank dry (takes me most of the day) and since years ago I got Dicodes very over priced charger, I just drop the mod in the charger at the end of the day and its ready for more vaping in a few hours.
So, anyone else putting to use or having some fun with +5 year old vaping gear? How do you like it?

Anyone order from Gearbeast.com ?
Thinking about upgrading from my Ego One to the Mega. Good price on gear beast. Need some positive feedback on gear beast first. Thanks !
I'm almost two years into vaping and it has been great.
I've been using a VW Ehuge 35 watt 26650 mod with a Kanger Subtank. Its huge and heavy but the battery lasts a long time. Also been using an Innokin Coolfire 2 with a Gladius tank.
Figured it was time to upgrade. Been watching several review videos to see whats out there. A lot of new sub ohm tanks and they all seem pretty good.
I've never had a box mod and figured it was time. Bought a Cloupor T6 recently to put my Subtank on. The T6 is supposed to be a 100 watt device. The Kanger coil only goes to 30 watts so no big deal there.
I really like the T6. Pretty small for a 26650 mod. Surface is slippery though, need to get a wrap for it. Butons are nice any clicky. The battery cover has magnets which is nice, no screw driver needed. Feels solid and the internals are clean. Its thick and the 25mm Subtank fits nicely on it.
Recently after watching some videos, I came across a new kinda unknown Sub Ohm Clearo. Its the Freemax Starre Sub Ohm. .5ohm or .25ohm coils. Mine came with the .5ohm. The .5ohm is rated 20-60 watts and the .25ohm is rated 20-100 watts. Reviewers were all impressed with the vapor and taste of this device. So I ordered one.
Wow, OMG, this Freemax Starre rocks. Blows away my Kanger Sub Tank in vapor production and flavor. Holds 5ml and the air holes are huge. Surgical Stainless Steel and Surgical Cotton used in the coil. Amazing.
After some more research, I discovered the Cloupor T6 really doesn't put out 100 watts. Well, that makes sense as its only a single battery device.
So went to the local vape shop today and bought a Sigelei 150 watt to put the Freemax Starre on. Will order some .25ohm coils soon.
Lovin the Sigelei so far. Magnets on battery cover, comes with a silicone gel case, nice clicky buttons, takes 2 18650. Its taller and wider than the T6 but not as thick. One thing it lacks that the T6 has is a USB charging port.
The Freemax Starre fits perfectly on it. The Kanger Sub Tank is wider than the Sigelei but fits perfect on the T6.
Really enjoying both of these box mods.

--Ray Davies, "Low Budget"--
A few months ago, I got back into vaping after a two year absence. I figured that I wouldn't really need to buy much more gear than what I already had from 2014-2017.
Well, a lot that old gear still works and I use much of it frequently. I was using it, doing just fine, when I decided to get a new high power mod to replace the ailing eVic-VT, whose built-in battery is dying a slow and agonizing death. Can't run subohm coils on a Provari.
So I decided to buy a mod...
I'm good at finding closeouts, liquidations, etc. It's one of the ways I keep costs low for my guitar business. Much of which comes from China. With vaping, we have a whole industry located almost entirely in China. Most of the major manufacturers seem to introduce new gear and discontinue "old" gear on an almost weekly basis.
"Who still wants that old piece of junk mod we were making last month with a measly 95 watt output. Now, for just $5 more, you can have the new totally badass mod that looks almost the same as the old one, but in new colors and...get this...105 watt output!"
So for low power me, there was all kinds of cool stuff. I don't care about TC, 'cause I vape too cool for it to work. Just give me variable wattage or even VV. Last month's model is OK.
So I'm finding all sorts of cool stuff, and started seeing a lot of good stuff for under $50. A lot of good stuff under $35. Some really cool stuff for under $25...so of course I can buy that mod. Doesn't cost half as much as that carton of cigarettes that I didn't buy this week.
So here's a cool starter kit (mod with tank) for under $25. About half of the list price that nobody paid in the first place:
The Sigelei Sobra is a cool looking, long lasting, 200W monster. I love the Moonshot tank it came with. I added the heat sink all by myself. But it has a fatal flaw for tootle-puffing me. Minimum output is 10W! I frequently vape at 7W, so this setup just won't work for me all of the time.
So I really needed to get another mod, this time a high ouput device with a minimum output of no more than 5W...
I can't deny it--I quickly developed a bad case of low budget shinyitis. Not too hard to click on "Buy" when it's so cheap--such a good deal--and what's another $25, anyway? If it's less than $15, I swear, sometimes the "Add To Cart" button clicks itself.
Here's a bunch of low budget gear that looks cool, works well, and none of it cost more than $35. I also bought all of it in the last 3 months:
Low budget shinyitis is a common affliction. Some folks collect different pod systems in all of the available colors. Some folks just can't resist a good $20 RTA. Some people start collecting mech clones...
HCigar "Turtle Ship" clone with a custom built Subtank. Good quality, really. The only thing that gives it away as a clone is the engraving, which was left rough. Of course, I sanded and polished it, and now it's much smoother.
So low budget shinyitis is real, it's dangerous (to your wallet), and is perhaps a far more widespread affliction than previously thought. Now somebody please show off your low budget (under $50) shinies, so I know I'm not alone!
I ordered a new Istick 50 and Lemo II and really need it to get here soon been vaping on an evod 2 for almost 2 months now and totally helped me get off the analogs but now everything I vape on it tastes like crap and very metallic even after cleaning and changing coils nothing helps so need to leave it and start fresh with some new gear and keep on vaping
