I've seen a few discussions on this in the search but none quite answered all of my questions. (most were about juice,18650 batteries, or domestic flights with 1 device)
I haven't flown internationally since I started vaping. I'm just wondering how/where to pack everything. I'm flying from the US to Italy via Russia. I'm going for awhile so i'm taking almost everything. For Juice and tanks/coils i'm just going to pack them in my checked bags. What i'm more worried about is what to do with batteries. All of my devices are internal batteries (istick, twists) so is it better to turn them off and take off the tank and pack them in checked? Or is it better to carry them on? I have quite a few (+ a friend's stuff) so i'd hate to carry them on but i'm worried they might get damaged because it gets pretty cold down in those luggage compartments. If I carry on them on do I have to take everything out for the security check like you have to with laptops and ipads? Is it better to keep tanks on them so TSA knows what they are or are they getting pretty familiar with what this stuff looks like. I don't want anything confiscated obviously but I can see how they look a bit suspicious without tanks.
International Travelers
I am now in the US and I am going back to the Philippines for about a year.
I have a couple of VW box mods and a mech. tube mod along with 3 or 4 various atomizers. I also have a bunch of 18650 and 18500 batteries along with a couple of those skinny EGO style Twist batteries.
Since I make my own juice, I have some large bottles of VG and some 60mg Nic unflavored PG base, along with some bottles of flavorings.
I am thinking that everything I have goes into the checked bags except for the batteries which go in carry-on luggage ... does this sound right to you?
One thing else ... If I have a small EGO Twist battery with a small Kanger Aerotank Mini on top of it (for vaping at the airport once I get into Hong Kong), do you think I would have any problem with airport security if I put that in the TSA tray along with my other carry-on junk that's in my pocket before going though the metal detector? ... The Aerotank Mini in my pocket would have a little juice in it.
Thanks,
Just curious if I am in the minority here. I hope this doesn't come off as condescending - different strokes, and I am truly curious.
I usually just carry a mod and tank with me when I leave the house. Generally I don't travel a lot, mainly my commute to work, or out running errands or shopping with my wife. I don't really venture far from the house, typically. I don't go to bars, and eat out a few times per week. Visit friends on occasion. Pretty boring right?
I see people posting their vape kits here, and really wonder if all that is necessary. Certainly not for me, as I don't want to lug all that stuff around. Like today - I grabbed my iStick30 with Subtank Mini, fully charged and full tank, and went to work which is a 25 minute drive. The iStick/Kanger combo is tiny and fits well in my pocket. It's perfect for traveling. Once at work I have that plus an MVP2 with a IBTanked carto tank and a spare bottle of juice on my desk though it is rarely used since my employer outlawed indoor vaping.
If I am going shopping or to dinner I usually carry the same, or something similar - nothing bigger than a single 18650 regulated box with a tank or maybe my Reo Grand. I've never had the need to carry any more than that, so I'm wondering why folks carry wick, wire juice, batteries, tools etc...and curious how many do. I'm not knocking it, just don't get it. I can see if I was traveling away from home for days, as in vacation, but otherwise...
I prefer to pack light, and already have enough junk in my pockets, especially if I'm also CCW. I don't want to carry a man-bag or briefcase full of vape gear. Even a small box or pouch is an encumbrance to me. Never carried a smoking kit either.
So, where do I fall in the vape gear spectrum?...what do you carry?
I currently use Halo's Triton batteries and I like the batteries but I do not like the tanks. I have been having issues with them wicking and it's annoying. I use the batteries now with the regular cartomizers because the cartos always work and I don't have to fiddle with them. The problem is they are a regular carto and don't hold much juice so I'm always topping them off. I've always like the streamlined look of the triton and ego style batteries and the battery life is ok on them but I'm tired of having to fiddle with crap. I just want to pour in some juice and be able to vape for a while without worrying about anything.
I have noticed the Isticks and they actually look kinda cool but I'm still concerned about jumping into the box mod world. My other concern is what tank would you use on them that would be better than the Triton tanks, do they make some that are hassle free and you can just vape and maybe screw on a new coil every week or two. Another thing is it seems all the new tanks out there have metal mouthpieces and I HATE those, they feel horrible on my lips. I like the regular plastic kind that don't get cold or hot but are just normal feeling (if that makes sense).
If someone could please give some advise on a tank, there are so many new things out there and I'm lost. I have been vaping off and on for several years but have never found anything to keep me off cigs for more than 6 months at a time because of all the fidgiting thats involved. Also any thoughts about going from an ego style battery to a Istick.
Thanks for any and all help. This stuff is so confusing to me.
I've been out of vaping since about 2011. I'm looking to get a good setup to start up again, I might be starting a job which requires a nicotine hit now and again to keep me alert. What is going on these days? It looks like the laws have all gone stupid and I hear about people saying they only have tobacco flavors now and other lame stuff I'm hearing. I thought technology would have improved, not regressed. So back before I quit I was considering a custom titanium or otherwise setup with aftermarket batteries.
I'm very familiar with this type of stuff having been a flashlight collector and electronics hobbyist for over twenty years, but I don't understand what is going on out there these days with the laws and all the proprietary systems I see out there nowadays with the proprietary batteries. I have a lot of spare lithium ion batteries setting around, so I'd be happy to use them in custom setups. For reference the last vape setup I had was an Ego-T with the refillable tanks and that had an internal proprietary rechargeable battery. And I used to purchase my vape juice separate from custom online shops like Mom and Pop's Vape Shop. Could someone point me in the right direction so I can get a decent new setup? I'm taking it they don't have flavors like cotton candy or /pineapple-watermelon anymore? I guess that's only reserved for marijuana these days.
I don't have that much stuff yet - 4 or 5 devices, 3 tanks, some coils and under 20 bottles of pre-made juice. I've had it all in a plastic tote but that is rapidly getting too small for everything plus the boxes the tanks and devices came in - I save those.
You guys seem to have much larger collections of stuff and I just wondered how you keep everything separated/organized.
I'm thinking if I get into DIY ejuice I'm going to need a room for everything!
Pics please!
Some of you may be familiar with the problems I've encountered the past couple of months trying to find a vaping unit that works well for me. I think my problems are solved. I've been using a Joyetech Egrip for two days and I'm thrilled and delighted. No tanks to fool with, it's built in. It gives a wonderful smooth hit. It's 20 watts and you can actually vape at full 20 without worrying if your coil is going to fry. You have to use the replacement coils, 1.5, designed by Joyetech, can't use generics. It holds almost 4 ml of juice so you can fill er up and you're good for the day. I could go on and on, but suffice to say this little unit is AWESOME. If you're into simplicity, not into building your own and fooling with a lot of different tanks etc then you should check it out.
Its $69.99 everywhere except I found one place selling it for $49.99, Vape NW. I just ordered a second color. They also sent me a 17 ml bottle of juice (I asked if they could send me a "sample" of one of the juices they carry.)
Well just got back from vacation, took my Aegis solo and 2 full 100ml bottles of juice. All I took was a carry-on bag and my two bottles of juice were in my carry on bag. When I got to security I put my aegis solo with everything in my pockets in the bin and they didn't say a word about it, both ways.
So I've been vaping for 2-3 years now. Mainly on a Big Baby Beast and Baby Beast. When the X Baby came out I got one but stayed with the big baby. X Baby motivated me that vaping wasn't gonna get much better than what we already had. Now after 6-9 months out of the loop, I see mesh is in. My local supply doesn't even carry X Baby coils anymore. So since I've been using the same 2 tanks for over 2 years, well it's time. I just want something better than what 2017 had to offer. I have rebuilt coils in the RTA for the Big baby. I can build basic coils. I want easy. I'm too busy to do anything past a simple mesh RTA or a new mesh sub ohm replaceable cool setup.
I like DL Vapes in the 30-50 watt range. With the Smoke stuff I've never went over 50 watts and I'm happy with that or I would need a new mod.
It would be nice to get a recommendations that the typical local supply would carry coils for
So today I bought a pack of cigarettes . I havent smoked in a long time and i feel like vaping has turned me into a complete nicotine addict and this is why I bough the pack , I wanted to test myself since I know how much I use to smoke . Ever since I started vaping I have been increasing strenght and quantity of juice per day and I vape a lot , some days , I would vape between 10 - 15 ML of 6mg juice and absorb another ML though my skin while building . I smoked my first cigarette in almost a year and I finished it and guess what after that I wanted another one but I didnt take it .
Well before I started vaping I was smoking one cig every 2-3 hours and now I want way more . I am honestly considering quiting vaping and smoking all together , maybe 1 cig day , that would be it . Or maybe I should switch to non rebuiuldable tanks and stop making my own juice because I honestly feel like DYI and rebuildables is what made me vape more , trying different build on different attomizers , trying my new DYI e-liquids , trying other e-liquids that I bought , trying this , trying that , and at the end of the day 20ML of juice gone .
What would you recommend me ?
Three and 1 half years ago a cancerous tumor was found in the upper lobe of my right lung. The 1/2 pack of cigarettes I had in my pocket were thrown away when I left the doctors office right after the discovery. I have not put one in my mouth since. I had surgery to remove the lobe.
Being seriously addicted to nicotine I asked my vaping daughter to get me started. She came up with some pencil batteries and a Kanger Protank Mini II. I replaced it many times during the last 3+ years with the same tank only "upgrading" to Eleaf Istick batteries. I worked my way down to .2% nicotine juice. I drilled out the air holes in the Protank to get more air flow. Battery life was minimal and refills on juice were frequent, vape clouds were small. I only went to 1 or 2 vape shops through the years not knowing what questions to ask for help with equipment, I just continued with the same set up. The neighbors daughter had an outfit that produced billows of vapor and a dandy looking outfit to do it with. I asked her what the brand was.... she didn't know and there was no writing on the unit.
I've came here looking for help but not knowing what questions to ask. I just looked.
The other day I was reading the GeekVape board and found someone asking for recommendations for an outfit. Most of the posters suggested an Aegis Cerberus 100W unit. I decided to order one. I have some 18650 batteries laying around. It came yesterday. I fired it up, made some adjustments and WOW what a hit. Seems to be a dandy outfit, sturdy and well made........ I ordered another one last night.
BTW I visit and Oncologist regularly and so far I'm cancer free.
