Coil Question?

Can someone help explain : why thicker wires (lower gauge) since they have less resistance why would they take longer to heat up ? One (me) would think the lower resistance would make heating up quicker- where am I going wrong ?

Thx.

Sub-ohm On A Regulated Device?

So I've been building my own coils for a short period of time and I'm looking to better understand how my coils can affect my vaping experience, specifically varying ohms and wattage's.

I've been building mainly only one coil as I'm still trying to better understand the basics of coils and more importantly wicking. Ofc all I hear these days is how sub ohming is the best and with all the sub ohm devices I feel like I may be missing out on something if I'm not at .5 or below.

The coil I've been wrapping is a 28g .9 ohm single coil. If I were to go lower, how does this affect my vape on a regulated device? Unless I'm missing something, only the heat flux and quickness to heat would be affected right by lower resistance (given a set wattage)?

Cloud Chasing Coil Resistance

So I was just wondering what resistances (and I suppose coils) people use for their cloud chasing builds.
Is the lower resistance or surface area of the coils more important?

My current go-to setup is a dual micro coil at around 0.18 - 0.20 ohms with 24 guage (I think 4 wraps).

Again With The Wires

So..hmm.what gauge shud I get? I'll b having the prebuilt coils n I want the wire to learn to build a simple coil, any recommendations on sites for high length cheap price? I've heard higher resistance for beginners so maybe what 1.5 ,2ohms? Help me!

Is A Low Wattage Bad For My Vape ?

Hello everyone, i bought a new vape 24H ago because my first one was terrible.
And when i use the recommended wattage for my resistance. The tast in my throat is pretty agressive.
Recommended : 40-60 Watts
Using : 26-30 Watts
So i wonder if using a too lower wattage can be bad for my resistance;vape itself.

Also i want to know if i use if i puff aproxymatly 0.5s is bad and i should make it more long.

Thanks (I don't know if its a duplicate, sorry if yes.)

Stupid Question: Is A Mechanical Mod One That Has No Soldered Wires ?.....

Like the subject states is that correct ? And a wooden box mod that does have soldered wires and only uses let's say an 18650 battery to fire roughly 3.7 volts would not be a mechanical mod right ?

Resistance Checking Quick Question

Im about to do my first coil build and my shop was out of stock of resistance ohm checkers. I have an evic supreme though so can I use that device to check instead. or is that dangerous.

Question About Resistance

Whats the difference between vaping on a subohm coil and a higher like 1.5 or 2 ohm coil at the same wattage? I understand why resistance of the coil matters on a mech, but whats the difference on a VW device?

Attention Lemo 2 Users...

Just a little warning to all who have purchased the Lemo 2- Do not use the wire included in the box.
I was a little worried when i was using the stock coil and noticed it had been turning a green color after a few days of use, not sure if this is the case with all Lemo 2's, but if you notice your wire is turning greenish, just throw it out and replace it. I don't believe this is kanthal, it could possibly be nichrome, but it's properties are not matching up with those of kanthal. My worries were confirmed when I decided to put a parallel 5 wrap coil on my rda with that wire because of my lack of other 24 gauge... Well today when I took out my cotton and dry burned the coil a little to rid it of excess juice, the coil actually deformed and somewhat melted on my rda . I don't know what kind of metal this is, but I'm positive it is not kanthal, this has never happened to me with kanthal, and this wire seems to be of a lower resistance than kanthal. Anyway, just wanted to let ya'll know to be careful with that wire, or just throw it out altogether. Otherwise, the Lemo 2 is a fantastic tank

Steam Engine Question

When calculating builds on Steam Engine for parallel builds, is the wrap count the total of wraps counting each strand, or total wraps for the unit of strands?

Example: I want build X using 2 parallel strands of 28g Kanthal, and for my given resistance, SE says use 14 wraps. Is that 7 wraps with parallel wires, or 14 wraps counting the parallel wires as a single wire?

Thanks in advance, guys. I'm trying to experiment with some creative builds and I want to waste as little wire as I can on missed resistance.

Wicking Speed And Liquid/atomiser Temperature

Hello everyone.

Now that I'm stuck at home I have been observing some things that I never realised before.

Where I am now it has been very cold (0°C and a bit lower sometimes) and my wicking is behaving differently.

When in normal daily routine/home, my atomisers are usually warmer when I give them first pulls of the day or pulls after some longer inactivity time. House or weather is warmer, because the setup was in my pocket or car, etc.

Now because the atomisers are reaching much lower temperatures, I have to be carefull on first pulls and avoid some chain vaping before they heat a bit (overall heating liquid included). If I forget and give some sequence pulls there's a big risk of dry hits.

I vape 70/30 or 80/20 vg/pg and it's very noticeable that the wicking speed changes a lot with temperature. I know the atomisers I'm using inside-out and know the wicking is perfect for my normal use. This is new to me.

Never realised how much liquid temperature influences wicking speed. This could explain a great number of people having problems with fast burned coils or fast burning cotton. Not only how you wick it matters but also we have to take into account environmental variables and vaping habits/timings.

Any thoughts on this?

Stay safe everyone.
