I'm an ex-smoker who enjoys the throat hit I used to get with cigs. I find that I get a much better throat hit and better flavor overall with my Nautilus Mini at about 14 watts than I do with my Atlantis at 30 watts.
When I want to blow some massive clouds just for the hell of it, I'll crank the Atlantis up to 30. I don't really understand WHY I don't get good throat hit and flavor with sub-ohms at higher wattage. Does anyone have a good explanation for this?
Whenever i go out for a drink on the town with the lady, I'll see vapsters here and there with their sub-ohm setups. And here i am with my Nautilus Mini and whatever low-wattage mod I decided to pair it with.
Honestly, each day I seem to enjoy using these low wattage devices, such as the VV4 and a Nautilus Mini, more and more as opposed to my sub-ohm gear.
With my Nautilus, the flavor and throat hit is always spot on, and the vapor is nice too for what it is. I seem to be using this setup more and more lately... And when subbing, it's rare for me to get that satisfying hit, i just find myself vaping more and more to feel satisfied thus burn through a ton of juice. With a Nautilus, I get that satisfying hit right away and vape here and there.
With my sub-ohm gear, juices can be a hit or miss at times in terms of flavor and hit. But i can always count on my Nautilus Mini to give me exactly what I want each and every time.
I even bought a MVP20 at a killer price to perfectly compliment the Nautilus Mini. I wouldnt be burning through nearly as much juice, thus saving me money in the long run.
It's nice to blow crazy big clouds in public, but im starting to fall back on mimicking a standard cigarette with vaping rather than chase clouds.
Am i crazy for shying away from sub-ohming? Maybe it will be fun again after i take a break from it?
I just got my Aspire Atlantis in, and to be honest I'm not at all satisfied, and I can't help but wonder.... Did I get a defective unit?
I bought it and the Kanger Aerotank Turbo quad coil tank. My resistance on the Kanger is registering at 0.9ohm and I'm sending about 23watts to it. The amount of vapor is excellent, flavor is good, and it's not an overly warm vape at all.
So then I slap on my Atlantis. The 0.5ohm is registering at 0.6 (big whoop...lol) and I'm sending 28 watts to it. First, the hit is BEYOND airy. I'm on the lowest airflow setting and there's no pull required at all. I believe it isn't sealed well somewhere along the airflow adjustment, because when I blow a bit of vapor back into it as a test, it comes out of the airflow hole (obviously) but it also flows out of other areas around the airflow ring. This doesn't happen with my Aerotank Mega, Aerotank Turbo, or my Nautilus...
Furthermore, the hit itself is just BAD. The flavor is off, the vapor is WAY too warm to be enjoyable, and where as I exhale nice sized clouds using the Aerotank Turbo, I exhale pathetic small clouds that aren't even thick when I use the Atlantis. Considering its a lower ohm with more watts going to it, how is that even possible??
So, no resistance at all on the airflow, even on its smallest setting, and obviously I have to be getting air from some areas around the airflow ring. The vape itself tastes bad (not burning cotton bad, just a bad flavor), and it's VERY warm. If I try and pull on this the way I do with the Turbo (only 0.3 ohms higher), I exhale a measly small thin cloud AND I often get choked when doing so.
So I'm just curious.... Is this the way this tank hits?? I can't believe how many praise it if so, I see no appeal. So I can't help but think I must have gotten a defective tank. I've tried lowering the watts down to about 22watts just to see, and even though the vapor wasn't AS hot, it was still uncomfortably warm and did not do my liquid's flavor any justice.
Any thoughts? I really would like to hear if this is how these new sub ohm clearos are going to hit, because if so I have absolutely no interest in making the switch.
Thanks in advance,
Finch
I have been vaping for about a month, and am still dealing with bad throat irritation. I have a 50w istick with an Atlantis tank. Using 3mg juices, normally vaping at about 3.5-3.8v. Changed coil about a week ago.
I find vaping hit and miss. Sometimes I take a bunch of drags and it's smooth and tastes great, big clouds. Other times (especially in the morning) I take even a small hit and I'm coughing up a lung. I take even one hit in the morning and for a few hours my throat is dry, stuffy and irritated. I am pretty active, and I drink plenty of water. I don't think it's me, I think the tank is sometimes giving me smooth good tasting vape but other times it comes out incredibly harsh, and I can't explain why. Is it normal the first 10 hits or so in the morning are that harsh? it seems as though every morning I have a sore throat because of it. Even in general I just feel stuffier, and is since going from a pack of cigs a day to 1-2 cigs a day and vaping.
Any advice or ideas?
I'm using an Aegis mini and I have a habit of drawing the vape right to my throat. I've tried to keep a it in my mouth and then blow out, but I often forget and go back to deep vapes. Is there a vape device out there which will be gentler on my throat, maybe something that makes it harder to take throat hits? I enjoy vaping but having a sore throat is becoming a real problem.
Hey guys I'm looking to upgrade from what I have right now which is the atlantis v1. I'm not a huge fan of the atlantis because of the inconsistency with the coils and the loss of flavor after 2 tank full. The atlantis v2 seems nicer with the occ coils and improved airflow, but I'm not sure if its worth the upgrade since I could just get the new 5-pack occ coils for my v1. The subtank mini still has better options with the occ coils and RBA. Also it seems the occ coils for the subtank is easier to rewick which could save me a few dollars.
I'm not sure which one to go with. I'm leaning more toward the subtank, but still not sure. Maybe someone who has either one or knows more about them could help me. I like to have a good amount of clouds while still keeping the flavor.
Or if anyone has a sub-ohm tank they could recommend that they like more than the ones I mentioned that would be good too.
I use an ipv2
Thanks
I prefer my vapes to be smooth and mellow with lots of vapor but not much throat hit. Yes I was a 30+ year smoker who converted to vaping a couple of months ago, but I do not care for the throat hit that many seem to try and get more of.
Am I abbie normal?
BTW I do enjoy vaping and still do vape tobacco flavor. To reduce the throat hit on that I buy high nic tobacco juice and blend in some VG to reduce the nic level down to 12mg and make the vape smoother. The Clayton and Buck naked juice works well for this, they wind up tasting good and vaping like a lite cig.
Hey guys! I'm new here so thanks for having me! I have been vaping for 2 years now.
I am looking for a good system that can give me that throat hit and stand chain vaping at times. I had been using the Smok Nord and that was working really well, but it recently broke so I was recommended the Orion Lost Vape DNA. I prefer small mods and pens, but really need that throat hit since I started vaping once I quit cigs.
Salt Nic juices have helped a ton with that hit but with the Orion my coils are burning out in like 3 days? Lowering the wattage levels take away that throat hit, too.
What do you guys recommend?
THANK YOU!!
I posted this in another user's smok m80 thread. I hope it's ok to post here too. I'm really concerned, and would like to know if this has happened to anyone else. Here is the post unaltered:
I loved the device at first, but now I am scared to use it. I had an Atlantis 2 on it, and at first, it consistently read the ohms as .39. Then it started jumping all over the place from puff to puff. It went anywhere from .39 to 1.2, always different with each puff. At one point, it even changed the watts on its own (it kept dropping them down from around 30 to around 25; it did stop doing this). So I put my kanger Subtank nano on it, at 24 watts. It read anywhere from .55 to 1.5. Then, on the last puff before I shut the device off, it read 2.62 and burned my throat really bad at 24 watts. Since it reads different with each puff, and I don't get the new reading until after I've hit the button, I cannot check what it will be before I've inhaled. I've been vaping for years, and never felt anything like this. My chest hurts, and my throat feels very sore. Contacting the vendor now, but I don't know that I would even want to use one ever again. This was scary for me. The device had the updated chip, and was not even used for more than a half a charge. (The two tanks are fine on my other mods.)

Hi everyone I have been vaping for about a month now and loving it so much, I haven't smoked any normal cigs since I started, everything was going good until about a week ago when I noticed some yucky mucus/phlegm in the back of my throat now it's built up so much that it's causing me to constantly try to bring it up but it just won't budge no matter what I do. Dr told me it is from quitting cigs and my body is getting rid of it however someone told me it can also be the PG, I use 50-50 and 12mg Nic I really don't know what to do because I need the PG for throat hit as I was a heavy smoker but if I don't have PG then I won't get the hit...I'm at a loss... Has anyone had this mucus problem and if so how did you get rid of it? Feeling really down atm
I must say, this is a decent tank. I now have an Atlantis sub tank and a Herakles tank. I do like them both, but on my Atlantis im limited to 30 watts. Anything above that starts to taste burnt. The Herakles I already have up to 40 watts and the juice tastes good and I get good clouds. Im picking up a Sigelei 100w plus from a buddy of mine. Im thinking I may pick up a Matrix tank to go along with it. Anybody have any experience with the Matrix tanks? Good? Bad? Neutral?
