I currently use organic cotton, but was wondering is there anything better than organic cotton to be used in your RDA?
I just got some japanese cotton pads and I have been building my rba section in subtank for a little while with organic cotton balls and have noticed that after I take a puff off of it I get this sizzling after I let go of the button I've read it could be to much cotton but I tried a very little amount of cotton and still get sizzling.. I'm using twisted 30 awg. Reading at .4 any idea?
There was a thread yesterday about possibility of getting sick from cotton dust. So I decided to make a few pictures.
First picture - organic cotton ball. We can see cotton is rather clean, but not 100% clean.
Next picture - cotton fibers from the middle of Koh-Gen-Doh pads, it is also pretty clean.
And the last picture - the same Koh-Gen-Doh pad, just higher magnification.
These pictures - just for fun. No scientific discoveries for today.
Just bought the Kangertech Subtank..... Was told I couldn't use my Max VG juice and I needed to buy some of their lower VG juice. I told the guy no thank you, I know what i'm doing and I can make it wick the Max VG.
Needless to say I got home, the STOCK OCC coil, .5 ohm, wicks my Max VG perfectly fine, even with chain vaping.
I ripped the pre-made coil out of the 1.2 ohm OCC head, and built my own .6 ohm coil in it, wicked it with Organic Cotton (Not KGD or Bacon, Just organic cotton from Walgreens) and it wicks perfectly fine with my Max VG.
I built a single coil .7 ohm spaced coil, wicked it with the double tails on each side, cut off to where it touches the deck, but not touching the threads, put the chimney cap on, and made sure the juice channel was free of blockage, and it wicks perfect with the Max VG.
No leaks, no dry hits, running each OCC head at 30 watts, and the RBA deck at 35 watts.
This is the original Subtank, 6ml for OCC and 4.2 for RBA, (NOT THE NEW 7.0mL version).
So let me hear it.... What have you guys noticed or seen about the wicking ideas, why has yours not worked?
WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE SAY YOU CANT USE MAX VG ON RTA's, especially on the Kanger Subtank????
So I needed some cotton for my new rda and I was at walmart so I picked up some swissper 100% cotton balls. It didn't say that they were organic I looked but couldn't find those. Anyway, it tastes fine, but I can't seem to find any info about whether it has been treated with chlorine or peroxide. The reason I ask is because I am not boiling. I have a dog that sheds like crazy and I live in florida so between the moisture and dog hair boiling doesn't seem to be too sanitary for me. I just want to make sure I am not harming me or my husband by doing this.
I have an Evod with a rebuilt coil (japanese organic cotton) and was wondering if I could vape high VG juices in it. I use a VV twist battery. Possibly?
I just picked up a Dark Horse Clone by Tobeco yesterday. I washed all the machine oil out, set it all up using kanthal and organic cotton, and it vapes great. The only problem is I literally get zero flavor AT ALL using it. Could it be that I am using to little cotton? I used to put a crap ton into my IGO-W (drilled airholes for more airflow). The same juices that used to taste so wonderful taste like nothing at all.
I am using dual 7-wrap micro coils with 26g Kanthal reading at 0.41ohms. Just wondering if there is anything I can do to get more flavor out of this bad boy. I have experimented with using different airflow amounts all to no avail. Any feedback is much appreciated!
Thanks,
Tyler
I've been looking all afternoon to find a vendor who sells the newest version of the Aspire Nautilus mini that has the organic cotton coil in the tank. Many places online still say they have ceramic in them or don't even specify. Can someone please help me? This is giving me a lot of anxiety. Thank you so very much.
It's about that time that I have started to re-wick the OCC coils in the subtank. Looking for some performance tips. I'm currently using Muji japanese cotton which is working well and this is what I have noticed...
too little cotton, the atom will leak and burn easily
too much cotton; no issues burning at all but the flavor is muted.
I've re-wicked 5-6 times this week to experiment. With the Muji sheets, I cut about 5-6mm strip, remove 1/2 the thickness, then after threading through the coil, I will cut about 4mm from the end and stuff it back in the OCC head.
What are your tips and preferred materials?
There's been some local talk in the vape lounges (AKA B&M) about Atlantis coils being made 100% organic cotton. Has anyone heard or found any truth to this yet??
ok ... so there was a thread that showed insect droppings in some cotton someone got with a RBA ... but I can't seem to find it.
So I thought I'd have a look at the cotton sample in my Kanger Subtank Mini & .. sure enough ... bug bits & little black "dots" (bug poop I assume). Okay ... fine ... I've not used it & will not use it. I have enough cotton (bacon) to keep me going for years, and I'm happily puffing away on the .50ohm OCC premade coil supplied by ........
........and then it dawned on me that it was supplied by the same folks that put a wad of bug-gunk-ridden cotton in the box with my ST mini ... Kanger.
So ... the question is if anyone has taken apart the OCC coils & found little black specks in the cotton, or other foreign "pieces" ?? I'm wondering if the cotton Kanger uses for the OCC coils is the same cotton they give you in the box to wick the RBA deck with.
