Hi guys,
I am from Jakarta, Indonesia. Home of the 2nd largest smokers in the world.
Smoking is enjoyed by many under age children here. Many of them started smoking in the 6th grade.
You can watch the documentary of smoking in Indonesia here (by Vice News)
I have a couple of friends working in the media that says their boss are scared not to make positive news on ecig because it will make the tobacco company will not advertise on them anymore.
Right now, the tobacco giant is pushing hard on ecig. We can see all the negative news of ecig spreading in EVERY MEDIA NEWS in the country, on the newspaper, magazine, television, radio. The government even make an official public service advertisement on how bad ecig is and aired them everywhere.
The tobacco giant controls the media with their money. Tobacco advertising is still permittable in all media type here in Indonesia.
We have seen a lot of drop in ecig user in Indonesia since that negative movement. Many online/offline vape store here goes bankrupt because many people believe what the government are saying.
So right now, it comes to "The government want to ban ecig anytime soon", says all the media.
We would like to ask help from fellow friends here by signing the petition in change.org as below:
Petition · Menteri Perdagangan Rachmat Gobel: Menghapus atau Membatalkan Larangan Rokok Elektrik/Vaporizer · Change.org
Please dont write the comment in English though, we just need the supporters numbers to increase so we can bring this forward to the government.
Thank you

My bf is still smoking his regular 4-5 cigarettes while vaping, he says he can only start reducing his cigarettes once he gets used to the ecig, he's only had the ecig about two weeks, will he get used to the ecig eventually even if he continues to smoke his regular five?
If nicotine did not exist in any form of ecig product, would the government be looking to tax it all?
When I do not have nicotine in my body I become restless, irritable and generally unglued physically and emotionally until I put nicotine in my body.
I use 3mg nic but vape at least 21mg of nic per day....at least and probably more.
Many say nicotine by itself is not addictive. Through 40 plus years of using it I strongly disagree.
The vapors cause has a double edge to it. The government will eventually tax all ecig products but nicotine is the very reason the government can justify coming into the vape shops and tax to begin with
Leading story on my local news, "E CIG EXPLODES" I'm in the LA area so I'm sure all the local tv will have it. I saw it on ch11. Pics and all. Pieces of his mech mod stuck in the ceiling and pics of his burned hands. This is the kind of stuff the government and antz need. Let's be careful out there.
lessifer petition has almost a thousand signatures

After seeing devastating news all over the world (India, USA), Lithuania's government is stubborn enough to kill everything I loved about e-cigarettes with a click of a button. Boom.
From 2020 onwards (ban is still pending though, but read below, you'll get your answer, knowing how my government blindly accepts ridiculous bans and such), shops won't carry e-liquids with anything other than bare bones tobacco flavored ones. It would be a miracle if one of the guys who came up with this stupid idea would make his mind.
It's devastating... Even our biggest vape shops couldn't do anything at the meeting, their remarks and talks were all ignored.
Funny enough, CEO of Philip Morris Lithuania actually said something about competition and started laughing afterwards. Soon after he was asked to leave the meeting. That's saying everything I wanted to know. BIG TOBACCO IS PAYING.
I'm like sitting at vape shop, reading these news. My hands are shaking.
EDIT: I'm adding one of the articles on this exact matter. Just translate it to English and you should understand 95% of the article without issue.
E.cigarečių pardavėjai kilo į mūšį dėl išgyvenimo – protestuoja prieš M.Majausko pataisą
...every commercial is a e-cig ad which opens up with some candy/fruity tasties in a picture, then continues on to show young adults blowing clouds of vapor. I mean, I went to fox to watch Bob's Burgers which is a cartoon, and technically aimed at the younger crowd. Do they seriously think showing candy and clouds is a good idea? What a huge joke. Not to mention the site that it links to at the end of the ad just lists vague topics and negative effects that are either completely wrong or not even specific enough to where it could mean anything such as:
1. E-cig vapor can contain even more particles than tobacco (ok, It CAN contain, so does it or doesnt it? Also particles? Really? It contains particles? Everything contains particles and there are millions upon millions of things that contain more 'particles' than tobacco.)
2. Vaping causes as much short term inflammation in your lungs as regular cigarettes, nicotine free vapor may cause even more. (short term inflammation? no specifics, nothing. And then nicotine-free vapor can cause even more? Lol. First they compare nicotine to an illegal hard-drug and how it is as addictive as it, then they say without the nicotine its even worse? Makes no sense.
3. The Irritation caused by breathing particles may cause an asthma attack. Read that sentence closely again, breathing in particles may cause an asthma attack. Not ecig particles, just particles, not any specific particles, just particles. So apparently all I read is "breathing in air or pesticides may cause an asthma attack"
4. Antibiotic resistant MRSA bacteria are harder to kill after being exposed to the particles in ecig vapor. another study found that ecig aerosol decreases immune system response and increase susceptibility of flu and pneumonia in mice. no link to any articles here.
5. even short term exposure to these little buggers can cause irritation of the throat and eyes give you a cough and make you feel dizzy. "these little buggers" they are referring to ecig vapor as a colony of little evil villains? dont understand this one
6. your ticker hates these particles too. they can cause constriction of the arteries that may lead to a heart attack. again with the 'particles', no specific statement of what type of particle or any links or lists of ingredients whatsoever.
amongst these vauge statements with no backup or evidence, they bring up formaldehyde, 'second hand vapor' , and 'thirdhand nicotine' being in your food at restaurants (THIRDHAND Nicotine, being in your FOOD, caused by vapers, ). They also continue to bash big tobacco, and blaming big tobacco for ecigarettes. "there is a lot that the e-cig industry is not telling us" etc etc. IMO, theres a lot that this campaign/ad doesn't say, but what is scary is that its such a huge campaign and the commercial was aimed to strike fear into the unknowing and ignorant. If I was not informed and wasn't a person who can think for myself, I would probably be against ecigs after seeing it. I'd like to think the majority of people are smart people who can make their own judgements and not jump to conclusions due to scare tactics like these, but sadly I don't think that is true.
Again, this ad came up while I was watching a cartoon, on fox's website. LoL

I have had problem like breaking the rule of vaping indoor, need to lurk around here to start vaping outdoor with support.Anyway I enjoy vaping more then smoking.Vaping or smoking helps lift my depression.I was on cigarette for 6 month at a late age before transiting to ecig
This past week marks 5 years since I smoked a cigarette. It honestly doesn't seem that long, it seems like yesterday I was huddled out in the cold at work with the smokers. I had been a smoker for 28 years.
Unlike many I see posting here, I cannot say vaping helped me quit. I quit cold turkey, and never tried an ecig until about a year after I quit smoking. At that point I was still doing well as a non-smoker, I didn't physically crave smoking, but I missed the 28 year habit of lighting up, having something to fiddle with, and just the relaxing feeling of the inhale/exhale. I had been eating a lot more to make up for the void, and having been underweight all my life I started packing on pounds (too many!). I sorely needed a non-food substitute for the comfort I was missing, but wasn't about to go back to smoking.
I tried a junky convenience store ecig after that first year, and thought "if this was what they were like than forget it". I continued on not smoking, but still missing the habit. About two years after that I began seeing the new advanced products coming out, and did a lot of research. I bought my first starter kit in 2013, and slowly advanced up to bigger and better gear.
People ask why would start vaping after I had already kicked the cigarette habit, and I say, "Why not?". Other than nicotine I'm not getting any of the negative things I got with cigarettes. And in my opinion, there's really nothing wrong with a little nicotine. Nicotine is not what was killing me, it was the smoke that was delivering the nicotine that was killing me.
So I'm 5 years smoke free, I no longer hack in the mornings, my chest never hurts and my clothes, car and hair don't stink anymore.
I have no intentions on giving up vaping, as it has no negative impact on my life, and i enjoy it, so why stop?
I have since gotten my son, my step-son, and his wife to all trade vaping for smoking, so bonus points for saving all their lives too!
So I'm outside of Walmart vaping (away from the entrance... basically where the employees smoke... cig butts everywhere) This woman walks by, stops and says "aren't you afraid that will hurt you" and I go into the "it's safe, it actually has nothing to do with this" and then she says "because I was really interested in vaping" (I thought she was going to tell me to go in the parking lot or something... she actually wanted to quit smoking) So I explained the whole deal about THC carts and "contamination", the bed rep from news media, ect. and she as very interested. I told her to search the internet and find the truth (how they are finally telling the truth) She was so relived and thankful. I may have just helped someone get off cigs, someone that was very interested in vaping and got scared. Happy ending (I needed that) I wonder how many other people want to quit smoking and just got scared because of the media BS. Kinda made my day
