It's Been Awhile. Wow! How Things Have Changed!

I guess it's been about 1 to 1 1/2 years since I've been in here. Life got busy for me.
I've been happy with the Vamo V2 and Aspire dual coil Davide setup I run. So I really wasn't chasing "the next new thing". But WOW how things have changed in a year and a half or so. Now everyone is using box mods with sub ohm factory coils, or twin stack coils.
Aspire seems to have made a name for themselves, and there seems to be a bunch of new suppliers getting in the ring. Along with the old reliable ones such as Kanger, it seems there is a whole lot of selections out there.
I feel like a newbe all over again.
I guess I'm just going to have to sit back, read a few threads, and do some catching up.
Y'all have fun!!

Why Am I Coughing So Much Now? I'm Not New To This...

Recently, I developed a pretty nasty cough, and I suspect vaping, since it usually happens right after I exhale, and at night when I'm in bed, it's a LOT worse. The problem seemed to start shortly after I got my Kanger SubTank Mini, which was about 4 months ago or so. I've been using 50/50 liquid for the past year or two and haven't changed the flavor in a couple years. I've also been using the same brand for about 4 years. The cough is brutal, and sometimes it hurts and makes me feel like I have to throw up. It's a lot like that tickle in your throat you get when you have a cold.

Things I've tried to remedy this:
- Gone all the way down to 20% PG, suspecting this may be a culprit.
- Tried many different coil lengths. I've built everything from 0.3 - 1.5 ohm.
- Tried using the OCC heads that are built for the subtank mini
- Changing airflow on the tank
- Building "looser" coils
- Building coils with different diameters

None of these have fixed the cough. The last step I guess I could try is a new tank or something, but I don't really want to do that.

Also worth noting, sometimes it's completely fine. No coughs.

Any ideas?

Mods Wear Out?

I’ve been vaping the same 2 mods for over a year and 1/2. They are Geekvape Aegis 100watt with Cerberus tanks. I use a couple of tank fulls per day. Lately I’ve been getting short battery charge life regardless of new coil or not, old batteries or new. I recently changed from .3 to .2 ohm coils, does that make a difference? Do these things wear out? I thought the only thing that ever needed replacing was the coil. I have 6 of the same unit in stock. Is it time to replace and pitch?

Sigelie Coils Taste Like Ebay Knock Offs

Im new to external battery mods but have been vaping for 3 years and I know how to prime a coil with e-juice. I go the extra mile after I prime the coil and let it sit for a minute. Then I fill up the tank put it back together and do not touch it for at least an hour or two just to make sure. I just got my now verified as legit sigelei sobra with the moonshot 120 both of the coils from that taste like those knock off BS eBay fake coils. I started off at a very low wattage and I don't know what's wrong both coils are disgusting. It's not exactly a burnt taste or a dry taste it's like a sour off taste and I can't use them. It also makes me feel like I have something in the back of my throat. What in the heck is going on? Do these coils take awhile to become usable? They're the coils that came with the mod and I verified the mod so I assume the coils are also okay. I even went so far as to try the second coil on a different mod but with the same tank just in case the mod was frying things the very first hit. Can anyone give me an idea of what's going on so I know what I need to do and also if anyone could tell me whether or not the Cascade baby coils will fit in the moonshot 120

Annoyed With Sub-ohm And Lack Of Education.

Let me clarify I enjoy sub-ohm and cloud chasing. It's not rocket science and can be as safe as any other vape. My annoyance is with TC coils being sold by Kanger and such at .2 ohms. You can daily read on here someone wanting to play with low ohm coils that have no understanding of ohms law. Add to that people tend to believe if it's made from a factory and it fits a mod then it's safe. I'm just waiting to read about someone placing a TC coil on a mech using a AW bat with a 10amp limit thinking they are safe because everything seems to work together. They don't know any better and I have no quarrel with that, it's part of learning. It's companies and individuals selling products with no regards to wether the person understands the risks and to make things worse half the people working at vape shops don't know any better either. I talked to a couple guys working that said learning ohms law was a waste of time to just use the calculator apps. Those apps build complacency and complacency is one of the most dangerous things in the world.

Cleaning And Re-using Aspire Bvc Coils Without Dry Buning

I've read many of the hysterical posts about the wick material in Aspire BVC coils. But I've gotten used to all the chicken little hysterical threads on ECF over the years. In the case of Aspire BVC coils I believe the hysteria to be unwarranted. If you believe it then read no further.

I've been using a Nautilus and Naut mini for a few months now. I can afford the BVC coil replacement cost but decided as an old school vaper to try to recycle them rather than just tossing them. I realize that some have managed to rebuild them but I decided to attempt simply re-using them in stock condition. I certainly don't expect many people to adopt my method but here it is for those who might. You'll need an ultrasonic cleaner.

In retrospect my first step was likely overkill but I'll find out with the next batch. My first step was to force warm water through each coil assembly with a dental water pik. I then placed all the rinsed assemblies in a small ultrasonic cleaner having filled the tank with hot tap water. The ultrasonic cleaner was purchased a few years ago in an attempt to recycle cartos. That attempt was doomed to failure.

My inexpensive ultrasonic cleaner runs three minute cycles and shuts off. Given that I probably went through enough cycles to equal 60 minutes total cleaning cycles with 4 or 5 water changes. When the tank water started to remain clear the coils were allowed to air dry for ~48 hours.

The result is that I am vaping one of these recycled coils and the performance is identical to a factory fresh coil. The first 10 or 12 hits carried a somewhat off taste but then cleared completely. This is FWIW. YMMV.

What Is Preheat Mode - And How Does It Affect Coil Life?

Howdy friends of the clouds,

can anyone help with this?

I use a aspire skystar mod with freemax double mesh coils now again after a long time.

The skystar mod has a preheat option - just "soft", "normal" and "hard".

How do these differerent settings affect coils life? What is the benefit?

Much appreciated!

P.S. I am back to vaping from today, my parcel just arrived. Let's do something for our health. Will miss those cigs but...gootta be more responsible, I am almost 25 now. But why....anyway. I need a diary probably.

Different Nautilus Bvc Coils Floating Around..picture Included

Hey all,

So, I've been really happy with my new setup (iStick 50w and 30w, Nautilus and Mini Nautilus). Everything has been working smoothly, but I have a problem with the replacement coils I purchased (and cannot return).

Went to go change out the coil in one of my tanks this evening. Filled the tank up as usual, made sure the air shaft and drip tip were clean, screwed on my new coil, filled the tank, and let it sit and wick up for half an hour. Took some pulls without firing, dropped it to 8w (to "step up" and prime the new coil), and immediately got a nasty burnt hit that I can still taste an hour later. Unscrewed the tank to see what was wrong, and noticed the wicking material was bone dry.

For the longest time, I could not figure out what happened, why it wasn't wicking...until I looked closer. The e-liquid holes on the replacement coil I have are TINY! The coils that came with the tanks have holes that are at least twice, maybe three times the diameter. The holes are so small that my e-liquid will not even enter them to soak the wicking material. I checked the serial number scratch off on Aspire's site and both boxes of replacement coils I have came up as authentic.

I'm displeased. $22 down the drain, now I have to rush and find a dealer who has the "correct" coils. I cannot use these coils whatsoever, and the dealer I purchased from does not accepted returns on atomizers.

On the left is the coil that came with the tank (both of my tanks came with this exact same coil, and two replacements that look exactly like it, but I've used them up and am on the new ones). On the right, the coil I purchased in a replacement pack of 5. You can see they look nearly identical, except for the size of the wicking holes. Also, the piece at the bottom seems a bit more flimsy, as you can see in the picture, it's not exactly straight with the rest of the atomizer.

So, can anyone point me to a dealer that has the coils I need? I'm afraid of ordering from somewhere and getting the ones on the right, which are useless and do not soak up any e-liquid whatsoever.

Nine And A Half Years Ago -

NEVER would I have guessed I'd be watching this heart-wrenching destruction of the life saving, life changing, and truly amazing thing that came to be called "Vape".

The onslaught of daily emails, most by names of companies/people I've been following and supporting for years, is literally ripping my guts out. I try to put myself into their positions and I cannot. The sacrifice, the money, the time, the sheer excitement (back when) of doing something SO phenomenally different from anything that had come before...

To those who are securing PMTA acceptance, that's great. Unfortunately, the taste in my mouth remains sour.

I'm not going to list all the names here and now. We all know the carnage, and each of us has our own story to tell. The bottom line is that it's a tragedy on SO many levels. Health, economics, freedom, humanity (etc., etc., etc.).

Most of all though, it's a truly horrific tragedy for everyone who changed their lives to begin down a road that should have been paved with nothing but success. The vast majority of which didn't do it for fame or fortune, but instead to change the world for the better. They paved the way, and showed many of us how to follow. Answering all of our questions, and walking us through, one crazy device, topper, or juice at time.

I know this is just a bunch of gibberish, but I guess I just can't find words to convey how ing heartbreaking this is to watch. I also know I'm just one in a vast sea of vapers who feel the same way.

That is all.

{sigh}

THANK YOU ECF FORUM COMMUNITY TO EACH & EVERYONE OF YOU GUYS ON HERE HAS HELPED AS WELL!!

HERE'S TO MANY MORE YEARS OFF THOSE BUTTS & CLOUD CHASING DREAMS!!

THANK YOU ALL!!

Well It Happened.

I make the choice that I'm certain I'll be vaping forever. I figured since I enjoy it, I'm gonna learn everything I want to know and make it a hobby.
Me being a perfectionist, I decided it was time to piece together a setup that was not only powerful, but pleasing to the eyes.
After much consideration, I made the choice to not go sub ohm. I instead decided a higher power, higher ohm setup would please me.
So this is what I ended up with.
Aspire CF VV 1600MAH battery. Instead of rocking a VV+ most people use, I went the route I did to get 600 more MAH battery and didn't care about the beauty ring because after all, my Aspire K1 tank is a backup now and can't be used with the VV+
The tank had to be good too. This was where I wanted to upgrade the most. I wanted adjustable airflow, and better coils.
The Nautilus Mini was the only clear choice. 2ml is fine for me as I switch flavors now and then, and the new redesigned OCC coils you can purchase was a selling point.
I've been using the setup since last night, and WOW!!! This tank brings the flavor through in ways I never thought possible. Also, the vapor production is amazing to me. I don't care about cloud chasing so by my standards this is a fog machine at higher voltage lol.
Overall with 5 additional spare coils I'm about 65$ in this setup and that's a bargain. It performs so well.
Also wanna throw out that GWAR Spew from MBV is friggin amazing in this tank!!!!
