This could have been my face this morning - luckily it was my thigh! I'm still shaking. Also luckily I was wearing thick cotton slacks - don't know what would have happened if I had been wearing something synthetic because there was fire.

This is the result of what I suppose you would call venting of and IMR supposedly perfectly good Efest battery which exploded inside my SMPL mech mod. This was a battery I had been happily using for the past 10 days or so on a mod that I received yesterday and which worked perfectly fine all day yesterday using the same battery or its twin since I got a pack of two.
This is the state of my desk right after the explosion.
I'm having trouble adding pictures but there are more.... I need to figure it out and I'll be back.
over the past month or so i have gradually moved into RDAs as opposed to RTAs/Cartos. most of my builds typically come out anywhere between .24-.45 ohm, dual coils. i bounce back and forth between my SMPL mech mod and my ipv mini II.
on the ipv mini II i'll take anywhere between 4-8 pulls between 30-50 watts when i get a "too hot!" message on the display. this has happened to me about 8-10 times already over the past two weeks or so. has anyone else with this device, or one similar, have this happen before?
on the SMPL mech mod i notice the top of the mod and the atty getting hot pretty darn quick when i have something like a .34/.37 ohm build on it. once it gets hot like that i just stop because obviously i don't want it to blow up in my face.
i only use 24-28gKA1 as of right since its all i have. i'm waiting on a shipment of some n80 though, hear some good things about that wire.
being 100% honest i am looking for the bigger clouds with good flavor. i did some searching around on here and found some decent stuff that is helping me figure everything out.
anyone got any ideas on the routes i should take to avoid this over heating and being able to get good dense clouds?
edit: i use sony vtc4's and vappower 2500mah 35amp batteries which i bought from vapehappy.
SO every video Ive seen of someone causing a battery to vent it took a few minutes of the battery sizzling and popping and heating up, smoking, etc. So why do people talk about a battery venting like its an imminent threat? As if say you built a 0.1 ohm coil and didnt know it, fired it and it would blow up in your face? I've never seen it happen or heard of that. Not saying it cant, I'm just wondering where the idea that a battery can just instantly combust without notice is coming from.
Just watched a news video... "Vape pen charger explosion"
Vape pen charger explosion causes thousands of dollars worth of damage to California woman's home
The lady was charging a vape pen and the charger "explodes" causing a nearby paint can to shoot up into the ceiling. The fire dept guy says "those lithium ion batteries..." and so on. Now wait just a minute! Technically, it wasn't a "vape charger" and they showed the vape pen looked fine. Pens don't come with a charger, just a USB cord, so it was just a universal USB charger (like for phones, ect) and the pen battery didn't explode. Also, why did she have a paint can sitting next to it? Did she leave the vape pen on (might not matter)? Was the USB cord damaged (short)? Pens use a LiPo battery not Lithium Ion. I know I'm nitpicking, but all people will really "hear" is vape pen explodes... nobody really thinks things out. Could this have happened anyway while charging a phone or something else? Right after watching this, I see an article in the local paper telling people to stop vaping immediately because of the recent events (and they don't mention ANYTHING about the real cause!) Final thought: there was also a water bottle next to where the charger was... maybe she spilled water on the charger? I'm like Peter Falk in the old TV show Columbo... "but what got me thinking was..." Maybe I overthink things, but at least I do think (and ask questions)
I'm charging a purple EFEST IMR battery in an XTAR LI-ION battery charger and I wanted to make sure Efest IMR purple is actually covered under LI-ION charging.. I can upload pictures in a second but I've been charging the battery for about an hour and this is my first electrical mod so I am trying to make sure, thank you. It says it is for rechargeable Li-ion batteries only but so far the battery is not hot or any problems
i want to buy a new battery but i'm living in korea.
so i decided don't purchase blu battery because it process is rather complicate ,
even i don't want to suffer it again.
anyway fortunately, i found few 510 mini battery on korea ecig webshop.
here is my question
if i buy a new battery then it could be charged in the pack?(charge seat for blu battery)
Okay you all helped me out tremendously, but now I have a new problem. I ordered and received a UWell D2 RTA. I unboxed it and built using the original coils that came with, everything was great and it worked perfectly. This morning I took it apart to change the cotton. Put it all back together went to go take a puff and got pretty much what felt like a quarter bottle of juice in my mouth. Took it apart and redid it, same scenario, took it apart again same scenario, took it apart of third time, check to make sure all gaskets where in place and they are put it back together and got an absolute Mouse full of juice again. Does anybody know about this RTA that can help me out please? I am at my wit's end with this thing, when I did it the first time everything was perfect and I loved it worked perfectly. I've already wasted a tremendous amount of juice trying to do this.
Hello,
I own the SMOK Infinix for more than 3 months now. I change the cotton myself for the pod and started having issues with the device.
After 2 months it would fire a while after pulling. Fixed by cleaning the inside of the device and removing the paper cover on the sensor. Worked perfectly.
Now, few days ago, I noticed I had to pull harder for the device to activate.
And now, literally an hour ago it would stop pulling. Isolated the airflow for a tighter pull worked for couple of minutes, now it just stopped. After some blows from the charging port it would do the infinite firing bug and that's the only way I can get a hit. Please help.
P.s I did clean the inside of the device again as much as I could. It gets a really good connection, just won't fire.
So I have (2) 3100mAh Efest batteries rated @ 20A and (1) 2500mAh Efest batterie rated @ 35A. I'm experiencing a pretty annoying problem with all 3 of them and that is they aren't lasting nearly as long as I feel they should be. I can EASILY vape through a battery in less than one hour while heavy vaping. I'm aware that I am sub-ohming and that requires more power from the battery but these are just going way too fast and something isn't right. I have a BEC Pro mod that takes a single 18650 battery and I'm vaping an Aspire Atlantis tank @ 35 watts with the .5 ohm coil installed. I charge each battery fully with a Nitecore i2 before using them and it'll say 4.2V on my mod & on my Smart BEC app it will say 100% as I take my first few puffs but then starts draining at a ridiculous rate until they are dead. I am not aware what the mod efficiency is on my BEC Pro or if there might be something not working properly within my device. Can someone please help me find what's wrong with these? Maybe some of you have eperienced this problem with Efest batteries in the past? Thanks in advance!
Edit: These are genuine Efest batteries as I bought them straight from the manufacture on Ebay.
Yesterday Lightning Vapes sent out an email informing customers of their impending business and website name change to - WIREOPTIM. Excerpt -
"We will continue to carry many of the products you have come to know and love, however e-liquid will soon be a thing of the past, and batteries are likely to be absent as well."
I'm going to call them and hope to chat about this tomorrow - the owner is quite up on battery tech. I don't recall the details or exactly when, but I do remember some condemnation and warnings and label changes concerning 18650 bat use in mods. A year or two, three... ago? Not sure.
As I DIY most of my lquids my largest concern in the past weeks has been nicotine availability and I'm adjusting my budget for a bulk purchase for frozen storage. I think/hope wire, cotton and PG/VG and flavorings will be somewhat safer from the insane one-sided ban happy wildfire sweeping the US.
The battery comment caught me a bit off-guard, and I'm not quite flush enough atm to stock up on those at the same time. Even less flush to find and buy some lost vape duos or other LI-PO pack mods if anyone still makes them. LI-Po's are used in RC hobbies and are available on ebay and from battery supliers - might be the way to go forward if I need to break out my soldering iron and relearn to mod hardware. I hope I'm overthinking this but if this is more about money and not the "Save the Children" BS I've been listening to for a decade, they won't stop at flavors.
I'll report back if I get any thoughts from LV.
Until then any thoughts here? Is Mooch still participating on this forum? Guess I'll be re-researching longevity and storage of those cells in the coming days.
I began vaping 10 years ago this month - after smoking for 30 years - I'm 57 - haven't had a smoke since and I'm seriously f***ing pissed off. But that's for another thread.
Cheers
Mike
Got home from work and was stoked to see a package from seven vapes containing my smpl clone and derringer rda clone. What a clean compact combo. Did a five wrap 24 gauge which read .31 on meter. Loving the results. I've been slipping up and smoking cigs the past few days. All 7 roommates (live in a recovery house) smoke so the temptation is real. I think this one will finally get me off the sticks. One can only hope
